They didn't like what mae young did at Royal Rumble 2000. Yeah, that and the violent street fight soured the relationship right off the bat. After that they showed the PPVs on a 50 minute delay and tried to edit any violence. I remember watching Backlash 2000 and they pixelated X-Pac's face after the match because he was bleeding. There was a lot of Backlash(no pun intended) about the manner that the PPV was presented and they showed the rest of the PPVs unedited after that for the most part, but by that point the fate of the WWF/Channel 4 relationship had already been sealed. And having adverts during them, wtf was that about. For the most part I agree with their reasoning, it's how they make money but cutting to an advert 2 seconds after Big Show returned after 7 or so months out at he 2001 Rumble. They just took the piss. Could of just followed what Sky did with showing PPV replays and have breaks after the matches.

They kept on cutting to adverts when something good was happening.
They even went to an advert during The Rock's promo at rumble 2000 and at the exact moment when he helped Cactus Jack in the street fight.
In the end I think they were showing Heat at 2am after Spanish football.

Yeah my biggest memories of the WWF on Channel 4 were not particularly good ones.
Firstly the aforementioned cutting away to adverts as Big Show returned at 2001 Royal Rumble and secondly, the way they completely butchered the airing of Backlash 2001. They aired a backstage segment with Vince and Show then cut to adverts, and when they came back it was supposed to be Angle/Benoit but instead they started showing Big Show vs Shane McMahon.
Then they went to adverts again and when it came back it was in the right order, but they showed the Vince/Show backstage segment again.
Also I was only about 7 when these PPVs aired so usually I'd either get my brother to record them so I could watch them the next day or I'd set the recording at like 11pm for a start time of 1am. So I'd have to fast forward about 2 hours of late night Channel 4 programming just to get to Vengeance 2001.
Although in later years I actually enjoyed seeing some of the stuff before the PPVs (for example an episode of Football Italia and the pre-show Heat before Vengeance).

Can't say I ever really remembering them butchering the footage, that said I only ever remember watching Fully Loaded 00, Royal Rumble 01, Invasion and Vengeance 01. I think for the most part I just appreciated seeing WWF on terrestrial TV. I know for I think Invasion I just stayed up after it and ended up watching The Hoobs.

I'm pretty sure Invasion was shown an hour later than normal so they could do adverts and such. I cannot remember anything mjaor being cut out by the ads.
