He's really great at over acting. Nobody over acts more than Nic Cage. The positive of that is his performances can be really entertaining. It all kinda of depends on the material and the director.

He's never done anything for me, personally. His movies have just always been, there. Nothing that's stood out to me.

He's so bad he's good and was a real badass. I say was because he lost a ton of badass points when he starred in this piece of donkey diarrhea sh*t: Seriously, if you thought Wicker Man was bad, it's a ing masterpiece compared to this abomination.

It's a remake to a Kirk Cameron flick. Of course it's going to be terrible.

I don't think anyone could argue against the fact that the dude "over-acts" a lot, to the point of it being comical at times. He's been a major star in some good movies, but he's also been involved in some very, very bad ones - and I think that's where the criticism really comes from: he doesn't seem to care how bad a movie is if he's getting paid.

Love him. Not just for his list of great performances (being the first to mention Adaptation is a shame), but that he's willing to go outside the box and at least try to be different. We all laugh at The Wicker Man, but let's be real; ten years later no one ever remembers it and it fades into obscurity/irrelevance if not for him (and the bees that are in his eyes). There's a genius to it.

Watch "Joe" and tell me Nicholas Cage is a bad actor. Gary Poulter was the true star of that film.

Nic Cage is one of the best in the world at not just chewing up the scenery, but devouring it.
He can be a very good actor when he is in the right frame of mind and with the right director.
Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, Lord of War, Weather Man, Moonstruck, Honeymoon in Vegas are all very good movies.
These days, Nic Cage will also do just about anything for money as he went broke.
But there are 4 kinds of Nic Cage movies:
1: Good movies with good performances (rare) - Raising Arizona, Lord of War 2: Movies that are so bad they are good - Face/Off, Con Air, The Rock, National Treasure 3: Movies so bad they are hilarious - Wicker Man, Drive Angry, Bad Lieutenant 4: Movies that are so bad they aren't funny and hurt to watch - Ghost Rider, Season of the Witch, Left Behind

The greatest thing he was ever in was 1990's "Wild at Heart"
This is how the movie opens, I hold this film in high regard.

Leaving Las Vegas is just an incredible movie, just to repeat.
