Any good sculpting material about at a good price?
I've used this cheap stuff from The Works for years, but its so hard to use effectively and its starting to limit what I can and can't do (I dont have a wide range of mattel parts, whearas I did jakks) whenever I sculpt a bear it just falls off after a while.
What can I use?

I use milliput personally but I keep having an allergic reaction everytime I use it (dries my skin out and I get a rash, even though I wear gloves when I sculpt) but then again I've always had sensitive skin and I haven't heard of anyone else suffering from this.

Thanks for the replies guys ill give em a go  are you 100% sure its the sculpting stuff giving you that reaction, could be the gloves? If it leaves a rash just moisturise it, diprobase or double base is the bedt |

Oh thats really odd, I figured if anything itd be the gloves, I wear gloves near 12 hours straight in work and it wrecks your hands, constantly having to moisturise as not to ruin my hand tattoos >_< |

I use Milliput. You can get it from most Craft and Hardware shops. It's around £4.99, but it's good stuff.

I use SuperSculpey. You can get it from London Graphic Centre stores or ebay. I recommend it

Milliput is a pain to use. It runs when wetted, and can ruin your figure if you're not doing a full repaint. You DO need to use water to stop it sticking to you or else it'll pull off and ruin your work. I find after a while it loses its strength when wetted too much while working. And it's like clay in regard that it'll cause chalky water to run down the figure. It's fine if you're doing large areas and sculpting muscles, but not for smaller work.
It costs about £3 online or £4-5 in stores.
Green Stuff from Games Workshop is more expensive (£7), but for me it's so much easier to use. It won't run AT ALL, meaning it won't cause sculpt to accumulate in crevices like Milliput does. Wet your finger to stop it sticking to you, and smooth it out to prevent your fingerprints getting on your work. It has more working time before it gets too hard to manipulate.
For example, Milliput has about 1 hour working time before it won't stick to anything, and becomes crumbly. Green Stuff easily has over 2 hours. Meaning less wastage. Just let it sit for 30 mins after mixing, otherwise it'll be too soft to use effectively. THAT is key.
It has a great flexibility meaning it's not as brittle as milliput. You can sand it just as well as Milliput, so they're both fine in that regard. But Milliput is better for large areas. Green Stuff is great for sculpting say t-shirt sleeves, boot tops/laces, trunks/short wrinkles or edges, masks, beards, wrist tapes, singlets etc.
The best thing is you can sculpt right on to existing figures without ruining details on the figure (unlike Milliput). It you get too much on, just use a knife and carefully cut it off and peel away. There should be no residue.
Can't stress how much better it is than Milliput.

I've used 2 part plumbing epoxy for years. Bad part is 20 min work time. I'll have to check and see if the US Games Workshops have that green stuff. Used Aves years ago and liked it, but it was messy. Miliput is annoying as hell.
As for the Rash, one brand of plumbing epoxy and the miliput both give me a rash or make me feel itchy.

I use milliput, i agree there's better ones out there but if you're careful then there's no worries.
