There are dozens and dozens and dozens of names throughout history that the Internet believes WWE should have done more with. My personal favorites on this list are probably Stevie Richards and Al Snow, but you have Christian (as mentioned in another new thread), and what feels like a gazillion other guys.
For the most part, I agree. But I was thinking - how could they have pushed them ALL? There's not enough TV time or roster space. If they had given all those guys main event pushes (because the Internet is displeased SPECIFICALLY because these guys weren't main eventers), you'd have nearly the entire roster in the world title hunt, too many guys for even the roster split era. Beyond that, there's isn't the TV time. The fact is, these "under-utilized" guys have to exist, there just isn't the space or time for them all!

I agree with that 100%. It's a shame that someone like Piper didn't get to hold the world title, but that doesn't define his career. But he was the 'Joker' to Hulks 'Batman' and helped elevate everyone he stepped into the ring with. I agree that the business needs these kind of guys, and it is extremely admirable that they are selfless enough to put others above themselves.

Stevie Richards is truly one of the most underutilized guys in the history of wrestling.

Stevie Richards is truly one of the most underutilized guys in the history of wrestling. it's true. he was killing it in ecw in 1995/1996/1997 but wcw just did not want young talent to succeed in those times, so he flopped when he went there. by the time he got to the wwf he was one of many.

I watch a YouTube channel called Wrestling With Wregret, where on one episode this is talked about. How there have been too many champions and most of them fall into irrelevancy after they win the title, so why give it to them. He also made the point of that too many of those downgrade the title.

I share the love for Stevie Richards, I always thought he had more to offer. I remember Stevie getting into great shape later in his WWE career when he on his way out, guy was ripped, he could cut a promo and he should have been kept on the roster for longer than he was.

Stevie could've been a solid upper midcarder in any promotion he went to if he was treated right.
Honestly, wrestling wise, way better then any other member of the Nest. Promo wise, I'd say he played comic relief just as well as Raven played "whiny loner who likes quoting philosophers and poets".

lol everyone wants their favorite to be pushed & be champions. That's doesnt mean they're good enough. You can be a great ring worker and get no where and you can be a crappy one and get every where. Its all about how you connect with the fans. Its having the "it factor"....A guy like Piper was great in the ring, great on the mic and one of the best villains in wrestling history...But in his era the Champion was the leader of the company. He was the guy in cartoons, Sports Illustrated, and on talk shows. That wasnt Piper.

What? The WWE chose to push Cade, Murdoch, Deuce, Domino and the Bashams over Eddie, Benoit, Christian, Jericho, RVD, Edge, Booker and the Hardys?

Let's just turn this into a Stevie Richards thread, yes? Yes .....I'm still annoyed at how the closest thing to a proper Stevie/Raven match was the one on Nitro. .....I'm still annoyed at how Stevie stayed on Sunday Night Heat for a good chunk of his WWE career

I'm not sure I will ever totally understand why people think Christian was misused or underutilized. He's had a great respectable career. Flirted with the main event for years. Multiple times held the World Heavyweight, Intercontinental, and Tag titles. And despite his moniker, he didn't have the level of charisma or mic skills as Edge, or several of his contemporaries. He is a very very good pro wrestler, but he never had the makings of a true "the guy"--especially when you consider Jericho never quite hit that and he's one of the best mic workers of all time, had all the skill in the ring, and definitely "the look."
Anyhow, your main point remains valid.. Not everyone can be pushed to the top, even if they have the makings. Just nature; some guys won't get a shot.
