One Final Time – Why Sasha Banks Should Defeat Bayley
So, the day is finally here. NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. The biggest show in NXT to date. What was originally set to be 5,000 in the Barclays Center has become over 13,000. Those 13,000 plus fans are going to witness perhaps the most anticipated NXT Women’s Championship bout in history. Sasha Banks defends against the beloved Bayley. People have latched onto this character. They love her. They cherish her. They want to see her succeed and become champion. It’s going to happen someday… but this is why I don’t think it’s tonight.
Many people see the outcome of this match as a foregone conclusion. Bayley is going to become NXT Women’s Champion because Sasha Banks is now on the main roster. It isn’t unheard of, however, for someone to compete on the main roster and hold a title in NXT. Three previous NXT Champions – Seth Rollins, Big E and Kevin Owens – have all done it. Big E especially since he competed on both the main roster and NXT for months with separate characters. I’m not saying that this means Sasha Banks will win. I just think that it isn’t impossible for her to be on the main roster and hold the NXT Women’s Title a bit longer.
Despite what many people believe, the Bayley love isn’t universal. Do I like Bayley? Sure. Do I love her? No. I don’t have the connection to Bayley that a lot of people do, and because of that, I can’t get behind how rushed this story feels. In 2014, this same exact story played out with Sami Zayn and it was damn near perfect. We loved Sami Zayn. We felt his struggle to the NXT Championship. With every loss he suffered at TakeOver events, especially Fatal Four Way, we were heartbroken, just as we should have been. Bayley hasn’t had that kind of path to the title like many believe she has. She had two previous title matches at TakeOver events. One against Charlotte and another in the Fatal Four Way match at Rival. Bayley hasn’t been consistently chasing the title, which is why I feel that this past month has been incredibly rushed for her. In back-to-back weeks, she went over Charlotte and Becky Lynch on the road to this match against Sasha. That doesn’t make me want to get behind Bayley. All that does is make me view her as the Roman Reigns of the Divas division right now. This is all too much, too fast. I know that I’m not the only one who feels this way.
However, what if Bayley were to lose this match? The match that she is universally predicted to win? Imagine the heartbreak around the world. Imagine how much Bayley losing tonight would make her fans want to see a rematch down the line. If I’m being honest, Bayley losing would even make me want to see a rematch, only this time with Bayley winning because then, I would have a reason to get behind her. There is more to be gained from Bayley losing tonight than her winning. Then, when she finally becomes champion, it would feel so much more special.
NXT isn’t going to accomplish much by rushing Bayley’s story to the NXT Women’s Title. They will, however, create one of the most emotional angles in recent memory by having her lose tonight in Brooklyn.

Joe v Corbin and Tag Titles will be an interesting match, no idea who will go over in those. Balor, Bayley, Breeze almost certain to go over!

Guys,
Bayley shouldn't lose. We all get it that you love Sasha. It makes ZERO sense for her to retain the title. Sasha is on the main roster now and doesn't even carry the NXT Women's title with her on Raw. The NXT Women's title should stay in NXT.
Sasha is dropping the title to Bayley. Get over it.

I could see if they were using the NXT Women's title to help her get over more on Raw or something. They aren't even letting her carry the damn thing around anymore. It's like, she joined the main roster and suddenly the NXT Women's title doesn't mean sh*t and isn't "worth" enough to even appear on Raw. However, I'm sure that isn't Sasha's call or decision. Fact is, with Charlotte, Becky and Sasha all getting called up, there is no other option other than Bayley right now. I know you guys don't like the story and feel it was rushed but they had to rush it because the other girls will be gone. I like Sasha Banks too. Both are great. Sasha is moving on and it doesn't make sense for her to retain here. Again, if they were giving Sasha a huge singles push on Raw and billing her as the "current NXT Women's champ" and came out with the belt and promoted it as being equal or better than the Divas title then I'd totally see your point. However, they aren't. Sasha should not retain here. Period.

However, they aren't. Sasha should not retain here. Period. I agree that they aren't using the title on Raw correctly, but that's besides the point. Sasha Banks is still pulling double duty on Raw and NXT. She could continue that, with the NXT Women's Title getting shine on NXT, just like it would if Bayley won it. There's a reason the Sami Zayn storyline worked so well. He got so close, so often. The same could be done with Bayley. As I said, I fully expect Bayley to win tonight. She went over Charlotte and Becky within two weeks and I sense she'll complete the main roster sweep tonight. In the unlikely event that Sasha Banks retains, I think it would be the better decision.

Can't forget Apollo Crews is debuting tonight! I'm saying BAMF retain, and I hope they do. Vaudevillains, while I like them, shouldn't be the ones to dethrone BAMF. Really should've been Enzo and Cass, I mean it's in Brooklyn. I'm thinking Corbin wins, but I'm pulling for Joe. Hopefully Bayley wins, I'm gonna cry if she wins. Breeze will beat Liger, and it'll be one hell of a match. Balor retains the NXT Championship, and Owens officially moves to the Main Roster.
