Sandman Customs Thread: The Great Muta, Vampiro, RVD, etc.

Its been awhile since I have been on here, but I have been feeling the itch again to start making some customs. Here are some I did probably 5 years ago, if not longer. I hope you guys enjoy them. All of them are handpainted from head to toe, no decals. I also varied from heavily modifying figures with super sculpey for display only, to making figures playable with very minimal modifications involved.

This place has changed quite a bit from when I used to frequent the boards, which makes me feel old as hell. Also the approach on how to do customs seems to have changed as well. The norm no longer seems to be using sculpey with a full paintjob, but rather use decals and the least amount of paint as possible to keep the figures playable and with more of a factory finish. To each his own, I can definitely appreciate that way of creating customs but it is something I personally will never attempt. I love handpainting all the logos and modifying the bodies to look like a normal wrestler instead of leaving them factory-like, looking like a comic book hero.

Welcome back! I do remember seeing you post WIP pics of that Rorschach head YEARS ago and I remember the Muta too! It was one of the best full sculpts I'd seen on here.

Not sure where you live, but I usually just check for local yard sales, online classifieds, and flea markets... I have managed to find some good stuff including R3 tech Jeff Hardy.

I remember seeing your stuff a fair time ago, around the first time I started customising.
I get you with the newer parts being so expensive its gotten to the point where I just dont customise anymore, I recently picked up on an unfinished Walter White figure (JAKKS) and it really given me the urge to pick up again, mattel seems very daunting to my wallet though haha. Kinda hoping that Jakks make a come back one day.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. Yes I am back, I laugh at the fact that I am still into collection action figures and comics and I still frequent an action figure forum. I have been around since the AFR days.....now most of you won't even know what the hell AFR is...but if there are any dinosaurs around (much like myself) then they will be able to shed some light on the good ol' days.


I started working on a deadpool...using a 12 inch GI Joe and my God I forgot how hard this is...to have the patience to sand, sculpt, primer, re-sculpt, sand again, paint, seal...repeat...it is just crazy. I will be posting stuff though. I really want to give a go at this one more time so hopefully you guys like my new stuff.
