I'm not sure little Timmys mum would buy a manager from the 90s. They are, after all, predominantly aimed at kids and kids are the majority of the market. 90s managers wouldn't sell well enough on their own in my opinion agreed but no kid wants Sheamus Del Rio Either Del Rio I definitely agree, but Sheamus is a draw though surely? I can't remember the last Sheamus I saw on the shelves

I can't remember the last Sheamus I saw on the shelves I don't disagree with you except for in America overseas I'm sure he sells amazing. Here he is the original Cesaro at least with cesaro you can use the excuse none of those toys have his body build...

I believe distribution was the biggest problem with the BAF line.

To this day, I still haven't seen the Kane BAF figures but a few Cenas at TRU when they were first released. I had to get Bryan off eBay and more than likely Bray and Taker when I decide to get them...

I can't remember the last Sheamus I saw on the shelves Sheamus was clogging shelves throughout 2014 in the US when he was injured and released in multiple Basic and BAF series, usually in his boring black attire. The one Sheamus I really wanted was his white/green/gold Boston Celtics attire from Night of Champions 2012, but of course, Mattel never made one.

It's insulting that Mattel would think we would buy a crappy Ziggler and Sandow just to build a figure. They really do think we're dumb.

Distribution and case packs were terrible. I realize that even the Marvel ones aren't packed evenly but these ones had the wrong characters over-produced.

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, BAF!!!! Never liked the concept. Still don't like it. Just make the figure a ing exclusive charge 5 more bucks and be done with it. Or release the figure across sets. For instance release the head in one set, next set release the legs, or something to that effect. Imagine if they put the parts with the figures that they thought would be a hard sell, You just sold out of your ing Del-Rios and Sheami (plural of Sheamuses?)

The core flaw in the Build a Figure concept is that kids don't want random commentators/old guys enough to bug their parents for all the figures to build them (unless they're the obsessive kids who go on to become us), and a lot of hardcore collectors/wrestling fans have the hipster mentality where they don't like buying figures of current main event, mainstream wrestlers.
Add in the horrendous pricing on them, and it makes for a bad combination.
I've enjoyed it. It gave us some really cool figures. But it also gave us a bunch that we didn't really want.

1) Toys R Us....which sucks because they never get anything new in stock
2) You have to pay $80-$100 buying 4 figures nobody wants just to get a figure of someone you dont want because Mattel doesnt think he will sell. So he wont sell at $15 but he will at essentially $80? Thanks for the peg warmers.

I never liked the concept. They only time I did the build a figure was for the Jim Ross. I liked all the figures in the series so it didn't bother me as much. As far as Marvel I really was tempted to do the thanos build a figure but I would be paying 20 bucks for his pieces so I passed. I also don't like the inflation of prices if you aren't interested in it. It's too bad they couldn't do a buy any figure and get the piece to the build a figure for 3 bucks. Then people like me could get the figure and skip the build

The big issue for me was forcing me to buy multiple figures of guys I already had in order to get a guy I wanted.
The price point I can live with if it's guys who are new to the line or guys who are updated to the point they are worth the purchase. The BAF rarely gave us either.
Then comes the issue of thinking someone like Teddy Long or Johnny Ace is in high demand, from anyone.
I honestly don't think it's a secret why they failed. I'm glad to see them go. We'll see how long they last at Walmart. My guess is not very long.

I can't remember the last Sheamus I saw on the shelves My local TRU still has 3 BAF John Laurinaitis Sheamus figures, all still full price at £24.99 That set is 2 years old, its the longest shelfwarmer I've seen

It was fine over here in the UK Nope. I don't find £24.99 acceptable for one figure.
