While I'm sure this is all passable from a legal perspective, I can't imagine Mattel is too happy knowing that their competitor is now in business with one of their partners. Ironic too, when you think about how Vince's deals with his major partner (USA Network) has specific language preventing them from doing business with his competitor. You'll never see TNA or ROH programming on the USA Network while they still have the WWE contract, but Vince can have Mattel produce his toys, as well as Jakks, and it shouldn't be questioned. You wonder if the tawdry McMahon even had the decency to contact Mattel, giving them the heads up before this got announced.
Vince has no class, never has, never will. Even at 70 years old the man is still a hypocritical trailer park trash. No offense to those that live in trailer parks, but you know there is a stereotype and not everyone fits it - but at heart, he does and he fits it to a T. When he stole talent and looted other territories it was called "competition", when Bischoff/Turner did the same thing to Vince a decade later, it was "unfair", considered a "raid", and grounds for litigation; that's right, Vince sued Turner for doing exactly what Vince did to Gagne, Stu, Von Erich, Graham, Owens, etc. just a decade prior. For my hobby's sake, I hope this hasn't annoyed Mattel too much, but for Vince's sake, I hope they cut his ass off after 2019 if not before.

The press release says the only action figures they're making is in the Asia-Pacific region. Like Japan and the Philippines and stuff. Relax. It specifically says Mattel has the MASTER toy license. You won't be seeing any Jakks WWE action figures in North America or Europe as long as Mattel has the license. And I'm pretty sure WWE is making more money now with Mattel than they ever did with Jakks. Mattel can afford a much higher price for the contract than Jakks can afford.

if jakks going to release WWE action figure but limited to asia pacific region then there must be a reason to that... why they want to target asia pacific region with jakks pacific action figure? there must be huge demand in some apac country LOL... definitely not Indonesia...

It's funny really...the people who are saying that they will quit collecting if Jakks gets the license back are some of the same people who said they would quit when Mattel took over in 2010.

Just because I have had a few hours to reflect, maybe change my mind abit... Nope, I'm still out. Jakks shouldn't be anywhere close to WWE again.

They are almost identical to stackdown Bullship. Stackdown figures have more articulation, so you can actually wrestle with them. These are minecraft dolls with product licenses.

I refuse to go back to lower quality, and final figures that don't look as good as the prototype. Jakks being anywhere near figures worries me that they're going to eventually come back, and I'd really hate that. If Jakks comes back full force then I am legitimately done for good.

Only thing they did that I liked was massive amount of characters in classic line, Mattel's already catching up The plastic was cheap looking and shiny The scale was brutal The bodies were horrible Scans were half decent, sometimes great, sometimes brutal Costume designs were often inaccurate or half assed Hard to customize considering the boots were attached to the legs etc I might pick up a macho man stack down figure but that's it And let's not forget my favorite, the majority of the figures came with arm swinging features aka loose arms! I haven't...

Let jakks pump out the kiddy rubbish which means Mattel can divert those budgets back into their main lines and give us more detail, accessories etc.... You understand that's not how money works, right? If Mattel increases the budget for the elite line, that also means price increases for the elite line (even more than the usual). Why would they spend tons more on making the figure but charge the same?

They wouldn't be increasing their spend, they are diverting existing funds from secondary lines, childish lines, accessories etc... into the elite/basic lines et al. Even if they only divert half of their secondary lines expenditure then they are still saving overall. Edit: D'oh, just realised I failed economics 101. You're right, those existing funds had a return that would now disappear if it went into something whose price stays the same. I'm leaving my original post up aboveas a reminder to myself not be dim again

To me it just seems like jakks somehow got this deal with the intent to try to retake the entire wwe toy line in 4 years by putting a wedge between them and mattel.
If i was the head of jakks pacific thats what i would try to do with this new deal they got. Plus they worked with WWE for many years before.
So they basically are bringing back there ex-girlfriend/wife to work with right in front of mattel. I would be very unhappy if i was mattel right now...

This is no different than the deal WWE has with Funko Pop. Any company can license toys to multiple companies as long as they are different toys and not in direct competition to each other.
The same way Hasbro can make their own 3 3/4 inch and 6 inch Star Wars toys while they have Sideshow makes 12 inch toys and LEGO making their stuff.
This won't interfere with Mattel at all.

Bullship. Stackdown figures have more articulation, so you can actually wrestle with them. These are minecraft dolls with product licenses. There's only one point of articulation missing They don't bend at the elbow, the hips aren't a ball socket joint, same with the shoulders, & Stackdown heads can be move up & down. That makes a huge difference.

As long as Jakks stays away from the action figure making I'm fine. Once Mattel doesn't re-sign with WWE I'm officially done collecting.

I don't see the big deal. WWE has always had multiple toy companies making products for them. During the BCA era they had Playmates doing some miniature figures and other figures and also had Justoys doing bendems. Also Mcfarlane is doing statues for them. There are also a lot toys at stores related to WWE not made by Mattel like those hot wheel looking miniature semi trucks and stuff.
