Hey guys.
Just watching The Ladder Match 2: Crash and Burn Blu-Ray set, and a bunch of the matches have been for the World Heavyweight Title. It got me thinking, if at any point WWE decides to reinstate the Big Gold Belt, what would the name be? They currently have the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, so would that go back to being the WWE Title and the big gold would again be the World Heavyweight Championship? Or would they have two World Heavyweight Titles?
Wonder if anyone else has thought about it.

I honestly don't think they'll be bringing the World Heavyweight Championship back so I've never thought of that.

The only thing I miss is that it felt like a more prestigious IC Title. That was cool.

That title has a unique history. So I guess they could come up with a name to represent every mane it has had in the past:
NWA World Title WCW World Title WCW International Title NWA World Title (again) WCW World Title (again) World Heavyweight Title WWE World Heavyweight Title
I could be wrong about it being the NWA title the second time but I vaguely recall Masahiro Chono having a run with it after WCW sent the belt to Japan as the International title and then abandoned the idea altogether. I believe this was somewhere around 93 - 95.
On second thought, I really think they should just leave it be. Even in the unlikely effect that they bring back WCW, I think they should leave it retired.

Pretty sure they're calling it the United States Championship right now.

I never really liked the Big Gold Belt being the "unbranded" World Heavyweight Championship Title Belt. I think, if they ever bring it back, it should come back as either the Hall Of Fame Championship Title Belt or the Legends Championship Title Belt, and have only Hall Of Famers or Legends battle over it. It would have a “Senior Circuit” feel to it, but it would also keep 50+ year olds away from the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title Belt.

I wasn't happy that the unified them, because personally I felt the World title was the more prestigious of the two titles. Especially since Cena and the Rock got involved with belt designs.

I highly doubt they'll ever bring it back.

I always hated having 2 world titles even during the brand split days it made them both look weak.
However when both belts were unified they should've keep the WHC are the main belt. The current title looks like a child's toy.

Flair debuted the title in '86 held it until he was stripped in '91. Then WCW went with the smaller title that Luger held. Bill Watts brought back the Big Gold belt and Chono won it I believe in the G1 Climax in '92 as the NWA Title. It eventually ended up back in Flair's hands in '93 I believe and when the NWA found out they (WCW) had plans for him to drop the title to Rick Rude, NWA said no and WCW pulled out but kept the title belt and recognized Flair as the WCW International Title...which it stayed until he & Sting unified the two belts and they kept the big gold belt. As for bringing back the belt, I personally dont think they should have ever gotten rid of it. To me it is THE most prestigious title in pro wrestling. WWE should have merged the 2 belts and updated the Big Gold with a new logo and maybe some minor added details here and there (I believe the original Crumrine big gold belt had a little more detail then the recast). To me at least, the WWE Title would then have a little prestige to it.

Still wish they'd institute the weight limits again for some titles.
Or make MITB be cash able for all titles.

Nothing against them, except that they didn't seem to respect it's prestige and lineage.

I wish the WWE title was just called the WWE Championship and had the big gold belt design, U.S. Title should be gone (I know they just built it up but at should have happened with the ITC and I'm British so why dafuq would I want a U.S. Belt???) world tag team championship belt design brought back for the tag team championship (you know the one they used in like 2008?) and ITC belt just needs to be brought up lol that is what I wish and everyone probably hates it... Well I'm a heel :-)

Imagine that thing around stone colds waist... Or razor Ramos or diesels or HBKs... It would look awful as where the big gold belt looks good on everyone from rey mysterio to Batista it looked good on them all

Still wish they'd institute the weight limits again for some titles. That would mean Rollins, Bryan etc would never be fighting for the big belt. Sheamus would look stupid if he has a briefcase he can use to get the big belt and he uses it to get the IC instead.

Its why i wish they would have made it the #1 title (the actual WWE Championship)...in typical WWE fashion, they looked at it as a 2nd tier title because it wasnt theirs.

Sheamus would look stupid if he has a briefcase he can use to get the big belt and he uses it to get the IC instead. Well, hence "Some Titles". The big one wouldn't be one. I look at it the same way TNA did the X-Division originally. There was never etched in stone rule that said someone who was small enough to fight for the X-Division title couldn't also fight for the "Big Title" which they had AJ Styles for example do on multiple occasions. I just don't like how the NXT Titles are the only ones that are truly seperated from the rest. Every other title on the roster is just that. A belt that's being held by this place holder until the next one. And all the John Cena promos in the world won't undo the tarnishing that has occured already, in my opinion. I won't doubt that a former World Champion using MITB to cash in on a "mid-tier" title would be stupid. However, that's not really what I had in mind. I'd like to see a version of MITB, but have it for other titles such as the Tag Titles. Basically each year, we are guarenteed two things. Someone wins the breifcase, and the potential surprise of when they cash in. That's it. At least by having a second MITB or an alternative version of the same idea, you could bring in other titles and showcase their "importance" by having someone cash in a once in a lifetime chance to obtain said title. Each year it's the same, it seems. A person on the rise wins the case, and people complain because he's not ready. Or a person who is established wins, and people complain because it should be a wrestler on the rise. Just trying to inject a little creativity. I get your points, though. Totally see where you are coming from.

Wish it and the brand split would come back. So that way Vince can cream his pants over "da look" on Raw and the real talent can thrive and grow on Smackdown. Wyatt, Ambrose, Sandow, Barrett and people who are good can and that can entertain can be a world champion again.
