So I'm noticing more and more lately that wrestlers are stalling or making adjustments mid-match to make sure they are facing the hard camera side. It's very distracting. A lot of wrestlers are guilty of this and I'm sure it's not their fault as they're being instructed to do it. I find it really takes away from some of the matches though. For instance, a wrestler will have their opponent down and instead of just laying right on top of them for the pin, the wrestler will step over to the other side, get in position, and go for the pin facing the hard camera side. Is this really necessary? I find it really noticeable sometimes and it bothers me.

Someone recently made a thread about this. I'm not sure if it was here or on another board but I've noticed it too.
Eva Marie did it last night after a suplex and it looked terrible.

I commented in the other thread too... the only time it really bothers me is a pinfall... they are down. Get on them for the pin.

Wait. Stop. There was another thread? My bad. But, yeah, Eva Marie doing it so blatantly on NXT last night literally led to me making this thread.

the funny thing is...the WWE cuts, zooms, pans & moves their camera's more than any other television show or movie in the history of existence, so why would they need to focus on "hard camera side" is beyond me. to be perfectly honest, i didn't notice it....but now thanks to you, i will. as if i needed another reason to despise the current TV "production" & camera work. it's at the point where if i had the power to only change one thing about this company it would be the camera work.

I find it more distracting when the referee has to basically jump over the two guys and curl up in a corner so he's not between the two wrestlers and the camera during a pin attempt. It gives the guy being pinned an extra five seconds.

My bad. But, yeah, Eva Marie doing it so blatantly on NXT last night literally led to me making this thread. @monoxide23 posted a similar thread in the classic board, and used Kane tombstoning Taker as an example. Agreed though.. I hate when they hit a move and then realize they have to jump to the other side of the body for a pin. Makes a match feel much more contrived and less real. the funny thing is...the WWE cuts, zooms, pans & moves their camera's more than any other television show or movie in the history of existence, so why would they need to focus on "hard camera side" is beyond me. Honestly, much of the time the WWE feels like the worst filmed thing on TV. Often the cuts are so fast they miss moves, and the telescoping zoom and pull backs during punches are really irritating.

I've noticed it and sometimes its annoying like when they step over someone then turn around and pin them like wtf why would you take an extra 4-5 sec to step over them and turn around to pin them I've started to notice it alot more

I think its a larger issue for fans at that live event. They play to the camera more than the audience, and when they do play to the audience, its only the hard camera's backdrop.
However, the pans and zooms bother me more. I understand its been out in place to cover missed shots, but it takes you out of the action. Why zoom in on a spot and get maybe a 3 foot square section of action, than a large image to include fan reaction?
This is why ECW still had the best camera angles. Their hard camera focused on the ring, from corner to corner, for a full frame shot of the ring and its inner workings. The canera moved when action went outside. You don't need more than that.
