So I just picked up an E37 Malenko from Walmart. It's a great figure. I need my memory refreshed....why doesn't he have the stubble/5 o'clock shadow? Did they just eliminate it completely? or is there going to be a variant? I just can't remember. S my other point brings me to the upcoming Elite 39 Sycho Sid If anyone has noticed, E37 Dean Malenko has white striping around his calves above the boot showing his signature "white socks" look he had in WCW. Originally I questioned the lack of this on the Sycho Sid....thinking maybe Mattel just didn't bother to do that on any figure, I couldn't remember any other flashback or current guy with a coloring above his boots. But this clearly proves they can do that....so how the heck does Sid not have it? To me that's a pretty miniscule detail that really shouldn't have been overlooked on what is a VERY simple figure to produce. I don't know if it's too late in production, if there's even time to correct it, but the fact that they did it for Dean Malenko and not Sid just doesn't seem right. If anything these kinds of things really makes me want to know how decisions get made and by whom when they are making these figures. It can't ALL be done by Bill...if Bill is a wrestling fan I'd like to think he knows enough about the business to say "hey, put some white around Sid's legs above his boots because that's accurate" In fact I'd almost guarantee Bill would do that. So who makes these decisions? Or does the factory just miss things? It's a really small detail, so it shouldn't really matter...but then again, small details should be the easiest to produce...so why didn't it get done?and FYI This isn't a bashing, or an argument. It's an observation meant for discussion.

I didn't notice until now. I would love for Sid to have the white above his boots
He needs it since he only comes with a vest

About Malenko's stubble, I assume Mattel couldn't find the right look and scrapped it. When we first saw the prototype with stubble, I believe they said they weren't pleased with how it turned out. Have seen quite a few people commenting on it, but I'm just pleased we have the Iceman. Rather have a great figure without one aesthetic aspect than a great figure ruined by that one minute detail.

Bill has admitted several times to just missing certain details ie Roman Reigns' wrist tape on his first elite. The APA in sleeved t-shirts would be another case, and I expect this detail on Sid would be too. Also, the figures are sometimes designed based on WWE promotional images. And it'd be easy to miss the white above the boots based on the main promo shot for him on the WWE site:

Forget the stubble, where the heck is Malenko's skin tone?

A lot of Malenko promo shots show him without stubble as well. He must have been thoughtful enough to shave for his pictures.

Both those "issues" don't bother me.

I would really like Sid to have white shins
The only thing that really bothers me about Sid is the long skin tone shins between the kneepads and boots as SIDS boots pretty much went up to his kneepads
Not a deal breaker for me but I would like to see taller boots for guys like Sid and lex Luger or taller thighs or something so they could use the tall boots and short shins

Search "Dean Malenko WCW" in Google images and you'll see that he wasn't always covered in stubble. A lot of the time, he was pretty clean.

Id rather him be clean shaven than look like he got chocolate milk on his face...or hobo clown steeze

Those little details bug me too. It's little details that made Mattel great and it's missing them that's hurting them right now.
Stinko Malenkos stubble and skin tone and Sids... well, a lot of stuff went wrong with him. The body, the socks, the accessories, the scan...

I think Dean without stubble looks better than the overly dark stubble they had on the early prototype. So I'm okay with it.

I agree, missing detail is a killer. Like WMXXXI Undertaker flashback missing his tie, when the image on the box showed it.

The stubble looked like crap on him anyway. The white shins ought to be there though, make it happen please.

^ This has actually been one of the more civil conversations about missed details on a figure that I've seen in a long time. No one in here totally trashed the entire figure based on the one "brown dot on a black desk" you mentioned.
As for Dean's stubble, I remember him having it occasionally, but being clean more often than not. I'd love it if Mattel were better with stubble, several head sculpts would look better if they could pull it off. Ambrose and the E19 Shawn Michaels head sculpts come to mind.
I do agree that some taller boots would benefit figures like Sid, since his boots went basically all the way up to the bottom of his knee pad. And I'll be honest, I don't remember his white socks, but I wasn't a huge Sid fan at the time so I didn't really look out for that.
