This is huge.. a WWE contracted performer is being allowed to appear on an indy show. It used to happen a lot back in the early 90's. I read in someone's book that it was allowed for a long time. I can't remember whose book though... Anyway, I know this isn't exactly the same but Jerry Lawler all did indy shows up until his heart attack. Even after. He wrestled Steen/Owens last year. But he's not an active performer. |

You would see lower tiered WWE stars on indy shows. I love the idea that NXT stars may appear at indy events, even if its NOT in a wrestling capacity. |

Weren't alot of the Eastern Championship Wrestling stars like Snuka and Hawk under WWE contract during their runs? |

Hoping for some fan footage of this, it's pretty damn cool for this to happen. I've been trying to get into Evolve for a while now, and a relationship between NXT and Evolve is a good way to bring in viewers.

Also a note, former UFC fighter Matt Riddle is on the cards facing Jonathan Gresham and Chris Dickinson. Riddle got this booking as a direct result of his WWE tryout.

This weekend is truly special and unprecedented. It will be the first time Sami Zayn appears at an independent wrestling event. It is the first time WWE has allowed one of it's talents to appear in this capacity. It is the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and crazy road. We are all in these uncharted waters together. It is a great time to be a wrestling fan. Here are some important details on the Sami Zayn appearance: Sami Zayn will be available for a meet & greet with an autograph opportunity to all VIP ticket holders. This will be before this cards this Saturday and Sunday. It is very important to note that there is no intermission nor will he be available after the event. You must be there before the show for the meet & greet. It will start roughly one hour before belltime. We have a few hundred 11x14 full color Sami Zayn posters courtesy of WWE. These will be given free to VIP ticket holders while supplies last. If you have a regular ticket, you can upgrade to a VIP ticket at the event. Sami Zayn will make an in ring appearance during EVOLVE 49 and EVOLVE 50. He will interact with EVOLVE talent. It will be something to see when a NXT talent is in the same ring with EVOLVE talent outside of WWE for the very first time. This will be special for the LIVE crowd only and will not be broadcast on LIVE iPPV. WWE NXT Superstar Sami Zayn did a meet & greet before tonight's EVOLVE 49 iPPV in New York City. The iPPV actually started late to accommodate the meet & greet. The main event saw WWE NXT prospect Johnny Gargano defeat Ethan Page in an "I Quit" match. After the iPPV ended - Sami came out and appeared for the live crowd. Sami thanked the EVOLVE fans for having him, saying he missed "all this." Sami thanked the fans for supporting EVOLVE and said this is the beginning of something big for EVOLVE. He said this is only going to get bigger and better. Sami praised Gargano, which got a "NXT" chant, and said he's the one to carry the EVOLVE brand now, calling him "the man." Sami said there's never been a more important time for Gargano to step up in EVOLVE than right now.
