"Backstage Talk of SmackDown Going Live on Tuesdays Posted by Steve Carrier on 10/21/2015 at 07:33 PM As noted, there has been a lot of talk recently about SmackDown going live next year once it moves to the USA Network and even possibly moving to Tuesday nights. The Wrestling Observer reports that if company does decide to make the show live, it would be more beneficial to move the show from Thursday nights to Tuesday nights as a way to save on overall production costs. If they do decide to stay on live on Thursday nights, the office would have to fly out to a new city twice in one week instead of once. While nothing is confirmed yet, we do know WWE was looking at major changes come January. " source: nodq.com/wwe/447477133.shtml

Best split the brands. Although it wouldn't be so easy with one title.

Def want to see a brand split and create competition from within the company.

They already have a brand split. It's called NXT.

meh, dunno how much it would help, because the fact is, 3 hours of RAW followed the next night 2 hours of SD is really a lot of wrestling, I feel like people would get burned out even quicker, especially since you'd be seeing 2 hours of the exact same stuff you just saw the night before while the commentators act like it's the first time we've ever seen it

I'm glad it wasn't "Smackdown is believed to be moving to 3 hours in January according to reports". Dodged a bullet there I guess.

The brand split is not a move they could make right now. They need to fill three hours of Raw and have to have all hand son deck for that.
Going live may be too costly also. They just need to make sure they put effort into Smackdown and make it matter. Outside of that, nothing will really change.

If they actually cared to make Smackdown a show worth watching, I'd care about this news. I hope something with Smackdown changes, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Rock and a hard place here.
One of the only ways to make Smackdown feel like something more than a distant B-Show is to make it go live, and the only way to make it go live is either to dramatically increase production costs or front load the week with all of your programming and risk burning out the audience even more.

Brand split and make the main title the ic belt, could bring it up as the 2nd main title like it should.

Drop raw to two hours and make a brand split. With SD being on USA all the extra advertising from the third hour of raw could just be done on Smackdown.

Knock RAW back down to two hours. If I'm not mistaken, isn't it USA Network that wants it to remain three? They'll be getting an additional hour of programming still in January.
Re-instate the brand split. There's a huge roster right now, with a lot of star power. A split would benefit newer talent, allowing for new pushes and best of all... keeping certain feuds fresh.
It's really a no-brainer...

Even if Smackdown goes live, nothing will change.
They'll make Smackdown a top priority for the first few weeks, then they'll forget about it again like they've done every other time.

It's really a no-brainer... Not only does the roster have star power. Just about everyone on the roster could potentially be a star. Use Smackdown to give Cesaro momentum, Rose a creative outlet to find his gimmick, the NXT call ups a starting point, etc.
