Now I'm all for everyone and anyone out there getting a job. I don't care what race, gender, age, or needs you are or may have. If your fingers bend, then you should be out there working. With that being said I just came back from eating out and they had a "special" needs guy cleaning up the place. Taking care of the trash and wiping down things and whatnot. But the problem with that was this guy just wouldn't leave people alone. He would just start standing by tables and making jokes and asking questions and being highly annoying. Not to mention this guy was 400 lbs of flab wrapped in a size small shirt and pants. That's the truth, I'm not going to sugar coat it. Also his hygiene was that of road kill. He was all sweaty and gross. More pimples and grease and grossness then all of you combined. Now, again, glad to see that he's working and not living off my tax dollars. But couldn't the place keep him in the back somewhere cleaning up something or working later hours so he's not in the way of everyone eating lunch and trying to get back to work? Also it was scaring off the little kids there. Sure they don't know any better and eventually they will have to learn that they have to share the world with us. And it's not the parents fault that kids can't handle something creepy like that. How would you handle so grotesque looking monster coming up to you and wanting to fondle your Happy Meal toy?
I say let them work, but, keep them out of the public view. The day is stressful enough having to pretend you like the normal people in the world, I don't want to spend the hour I have to myself entertaining a special guy or making it look like I'm enjoying him breathing heavy on my number six value meal.

If its a matter of the employee invading your personal space then the best course of action would just be speaking to a manager or another employee.

If it bothered me that much I would stop eating there.
I never eat in restaurants anymore. People are too annoying, customers and employees. I'd rather go to a drive-thru and eat at home.

"If your fingers bend, then you should be out there working."
Thank god you're not in any sort of position of deciding who is and isn't fit to work.

It's kinda cruel what you said but I do understand what you're saying 100% and I'd probably agree with you if I were there.

Don't complain. There's not to many places that specialize in hiring special needs people

Don't complain. There's not to many places that specialize in hiring special needs people This. My mom and sister used to work for a nonprofit that helped people with special needs find ways to contribute to their community. One of the things they did was to try and help people with special needs find jobs and it was one of the hardest things to do. A lot of companies don't want to hire them, because they feel like it's more of a hassle than it is a good thing. They deserve to work as much as anyone else. If you don't agree with it, or the person bothers you, I'm sure there are other places to eat.

you sound like a total POS the way you worded most of that. especially..."this guy was 400 lbs of flab wrapped in a size small shirt and pants"
I'm sure you are some highly intelligent godsend and blessed by the gods of beauty.
I go to the local Culvers and they have a guy who has down syndrome. he is a very good worker and I always try to give him a tip if he waits on me.
You should have spoken to him, ask how he was doing. Probably would have made his day, but no you judge him and make a senseless post online describing how ghastly you think he is.

Yeah, the way you explained your terrible experience made you seem like a jerk.
I in no way would like to experience what you did. But I also wouldn't have used most of the words you used to describe the situation. It's cruel.

You may have a valid point, but it's buried under rude and disgusting verbiage. If it's that much of a problem, just complain to the restaurant; ranting on this forum isn't going to accomplish anything (unless you're goal was making people think less of you, in which case...mission accomplished).

I just wouldn't eat there anymore man just eat in your car or something for now on. I understand that most companies don't want to hire special needs people, but honestly not all of them are a hassle. I've met a few in college who are well respectful and nice, but aren't fully there when it comes to learning.

This must be usa, I've never seen a fat person working in a uk McDonald s.
Jokes aside I don't think he meant any harm you could have just told him to go away. Most McDonald s staff are rude and are always in a rush, so your lucky he even looked at you.
