I'd love to meet Matt Cardona, just because of how big a fan he is of action figures. I'd legit pay extra for a 10 minute conversation, never mind an autograph. He seems a very cool, genuine guy to and he seems to love meeting fans which is a win in my book.

Nice read. I like that picture of him with all the titles. Shades of Ultimo Dragon. Congratulations! Thanks! Funny you mention that - I have that photo of Ultimo Dragon as an 8x10 signed. I appreciate you consistently reading these. What were/are his rules for autographs? Truthfully, I don't remember exactly. However, as an example, he said that he saw the new Coliseum Collection Jake Roberts figure signed and despite how cool it looks, that's not a road he wants to go down. Thanks for reading! It’s been a quiet month or so for me in terms of wrestling signings. Gangrel did a show here a couple of days ago, but I’ve already met him and didn’t have anything else I needed signed, so I passed. However, tonight Scotty 2 Hotty was in Toronto for Smash Wrestling. The promotion advertised a meet and greet during intermission, and as a result, I didn’t feel the rush to get there before the show as all I really wanted was to meet Scotty. The show started at 7 and I get there about 45 minutes after. I walk into the venue and it was HOT. Definitely glad I did not get there for the start as the heat was quite uncomfortable. The women’s match was the first one I got to witness and right after, it was Scotty’s match. Scotty faced local talent Psycho Mike to a losing effort. After the match, he sold his loss for a bit unti he was given a microphone. He spoke about the biggest crowd he ever wrestled in front of, which was WrestleMania 18 and the Skydome. For the Toronto fans reading this, yes, he called it the Skydome, saying that it doesn’t matter what it’s called now, it’s the Skydome. He mentioned his match and emphasized Mr. Perfect and how getting to wrestle somebody like him is as good as it gets. He then talked about Canadian wrestlers, listing several, such as Trish, Edge, Mike Sharpe, and Bret. He also mentioned Owen Hart, calling him one of the greatest ever to step foot into the ring. Furthermore, he said that he left his job at the Performance Center to do what he loves in front of audiences like this. It’s at this level of a few hundred people in community centers, legion halls, etc. that he likes to perform. At this point, he called out Psycho Mike to come back to the ring, telling him that he sees his passion and whenever he is in Florida, to hit him up. This ends Scotty’s speech. The ring announcer and promoter then start plugging the next show before announcing intermission. At intermission, they ask those interested to line up by the entrance way. I was fourth in line. It did not take long for Scotty to come back out and start signing. Weirdly, they didn’t give him a table and he was signing autographs standing. He was $40 for an 8x10 and photo-op. The photographer of the show would be the one to take your money. When it was my turn, I told him that I wanted three autographs and a photo. He told me that he doesn’t think Scotty will be signing my items, but I can ask him. The photographer asks for the $40, which I pay. I then go up to Scotty. Scotty tells me that it’s $50 for autographs on figures. The photographer tells him I paid $40 for the 8x10 and photo, which Scotty says is separate. I tell him, I want my figure, a magazine, and my book signed, as well as a picture with him. He tells me it’s $20 for flats, which meant that my total is $90 so I pay the photographer $50 more. I hand Scotty my figure with an orange paint pen, he asks if I want it personalized to Alex as per the sticky note, which I said I did. As he signed, I told him “it was really cool to hear Rhea Ripley talk about you”. He smiled instantly and said, “oh she’s really sweet”. I then hand him a magazine to sign. Grandmaster Sexay is on the cover of this and because he can no longer sign it, I asked Scotty if he could inscribe Too Cool on it, which he had no problem doing. Lastly, he signed my encyclopedia. As he did, I thanked him for his time and he replied by saying “nice meeting you, Alex” We then take a picture (at no extra cost) and shake hands to end the meet and greet. A simple, yet fun meet and greet with a name that hasn’t appeared in my thread before. I met Scotty at least ten years ago and he was just as nice then as he was tonight. Thanks for reading!

I’m sure it’s been discussed, but where do you find out about all the upcoming meet and greets? The Wrestlefigs site used to update upcoming events but stopped completely last year.

Sadly, the person responsible for updating the autograph signings passed away. I guess the best ways to be informed of appearances/signings is word of mouth or a Google search. I try to post them for any in the NJ area.

Great posting. Kind of surprised how much he's charging for signatures, though.

I follow all of my local indy promotions on Twitter. I also keep tabs on conventions that I've been to or heard of before, frequently checking for any updates. Definitely word of mouth as well. Great posting. Kind of surprised how much he's charging for signatures, though. Thanks! I was surprised too, but at the end of the day, I didn't think $90 Canadian for three autographs and a photo wasn't too bad.

This was a report I did not expect to write. Trish Stratus was doing media/press for the reality show she is a judge on, Canada’s Got Talent. I found out about this late last night. Despite the short notice, I decided to give this a shot because the television studio where she was scheduled to appear is not too far from me. After a 20-minute commute, I arrive at the studio about an hour before she was supposed to be on air. There were two other fans waiting with me. One ended up leaving as she had work. I had work too but was still able to squeeze this in because of how close it is to me. A few minutes after that fan left, a black vehicle pulls up. Thinking that might be Trish, I pull my stuff out. The driver comes out, and opens the back door. It is indeed Trish who then comes out of the car and is greeted by someone from the television studio who came out to get her. She says “hey guys!” to myself and the other fan that was there. I politely ask if she can sign and she was more than happy to do so. I first ask her to sign my Elite, personalized to me. Me: “Can you please make it out to Alex?” Trish, smiling: “Are you Alex?” Me: “I am!” At this point, Trish was going to sign, but she paused to give me eye contact as I continued speaking, “I actually saw you at Astronomicon a couple of months ago. I’m local [Toronto] so I offered to carpool.” Trish: “Ah, well here we are again!” Me: “Yeah, and for whatever reason, you thought I said ‘parkour’” Trish, laughing: “Oh I actually remember that!”. The look on her face and her tone made it sound like she actually recalled this. I then ask her to sign her Battle Pack with Lita. Before she did, she asked if I wanted a different colour. The truth is - I did, but I felt that doing marker switches in a setting like this, especially considering she was in a rush, was inappropriate. Therefore, I told her that the same pink was fine. I thought this was very nice of her to ask. After she signed the Battle Pack, she signed two DVD covers for me. As she did, I ask, “by the way, where’s Becky?!”. She sarcastically replies, “I don’t know! She’s missing!” After she signed, I thank her for stopping. In response, she offered to take a photo. The other fan took the photo for me and once I got my photo, the other fan traded places with me to get a photo with her as well. I thank her again, and she replies with “nice seeing you again, Alex!” as she walks into the television studio. Trish was super awesome as always. Thanks for reading!

I've meet Trish twice and both times, you would think she was the fan asking questions about how you are and just being friendly as h*ll. Glad to see that hasn't changed at all from the sounds of it. I wish I could say that about a lot if other guys and girls I've meet.

A really quick report to start the month. Curt Hawkins was at a toy show this afternoon. As shown in the graphic, he was scheduled to sign between 12 and 2pm. I wanted to get there around 1pm such that any line he might have had in the beginning would have already died down. I did just that and arrived at just past 1pm, entered the vendor room and found Ryan's table. We chatted for a bit as we prepped our paint pens before approaching Hawkins' table a few minutes later. He was $20 per autograph or photo-op, and given that I already had two photos with him, I didn't need one. I did need three autographs though, which I paid his handler for. We start off with a handshake. I then hand him a white paint pen to sign the Edgeheads set with. He tested my paint pen before signing, which is appreciated. I converse with him a little: Me: "I met you at Alpha-1 Wrestling many years ago" Hawkins: "Wow a lot of Alpha-1 fans here." Me: "Yeah, it's funny because I almost forgot to pay for the autograph you signed" Hawkins: "At Alpha-1?" Me: "Yeah" Hawkins: "That wouldn't be the first time that happened [with a fan] and it wouldn't be the last". That apparently had happened many times before. As he signed my Battle Pack, a bystander asked why he was in the set with Brodus. Hawkins explained that be was in Brodus' debut match. Then, I had him sign a program from 2007 as Brian Major. That literally ends the meet and greet. After he signed each item, he carefully sat down each item on his table and reminded me to give them some drying time. Although I would have liked to converse with him more, I had already met him a couple times prior so I didn't have much to talk about. It was great meeting him again though. Thanks for reading! Please come back next week as I'll be attending the annual Niagara Falls Comic Con.
