I know in 98 stone colds theme started to have a different rift? No much different at all really maybe sped up a little bit? Does anyone else notice it?
I like the slower speed one he had like 96- early 98.
Why was there a sudden gimmick change for Jarrett from nwa back to double j? Didn't he say when he came back He didn't wanna do that anymore? What was the real reason?
And lastly anyone know why Owen hart title change happened like two weeks before mania 14?
Also was it always planned for hbk to leave after mania? Bc I saw in the Monday night wars how hbk came into the press conference after it was over and basically saying I'm done. Or did they have to rewrite raw the next night without him in the plans

Or did they have to rewrite raw the next night without him in the plans Shawn injured his back at the Royal Rumble in the casket match with Undertaker. That's why he was kept out of the ring to make it to 'Mania against Austin. And it was always planned for Shawn to retire (at that time) and drop the belt to Austin (with much angst). The whole situation with the press conference was Shawn didn't know about it and basically threw a fit (I'm pretty sure there's a clip of it on Shawn'a DVD). The plan was for Hunter to be the new leader for Dx the next night on Raw and bring Kid back into the fold and Outlaws joining as well.

Shawn was supposed to take a significant amount of time off. He was then going to come back but showed up way to messed up to perform, so they sent him home. You are right about the rest though.

Didn't Triple H and the Outlaws smash HBK's head through a car window the next night on RAW? I could have sworn I saw that.

And lastly anyone know why Owen hart title change happened like two weeks before mania 14? Probably because they didn't know what to do with him. Vince promised Owen that he'd push him to the moon following Montreal, he was going to bill him as 'Canada's Greatest Wrestler' and have him beat Shawn. Shawn however wouldn't put him over and I guess he ended up slipping down the card.

Austin first used the updated version of "Hell Frozen Over" in, I think, October of 1999. Basically, Jim Johnston dialed back the bass on the track and made it a little more fast-paced. He always liked to update guys' themes after a while to freshen things up, plus WWF The Music Volume 3 was going to be coming out that same year so he had to have marquee tracks on the CD to help record sales.

It was never actually revealed that D-X locked HBK outside so they could set him up to be attacked by The Corporation, was it? D-X and Shawn were faces at the time, so if D-X set him up it wouldn't have made any sense.

D-X and Shawn were faces at the time, so if D-X set him up it wouldn't have made any sense. I think it was insinuated that they did. Shawn had turned on DX and joined the Corporation. But when he left the Corporation he came out with DX at the start of the show. It looked as if everything was smoothed over between HBK and DX. But later in the show, Shawn was leaving for some reason and DX saw him out the door. After the door shut they said something (I can't remember what it was without looking it up) that would lead you to believe that they weren't on the same page as him. The camera then show Shawn outside trying to get in the car but its locked, so he goes back over to the door that he came out and realizes that its locked. He drops his head as if he realized that they had locked him out purposely, still not over his turn earlier in the year. Then you here Bossman's voice in the background as the camera cuts off. When they come back, Shawn had been put through the car window by the Corporation.

It was implied that DX locked Shawn outside, since Shawn had (up until very recently) been in the Corporation. He'd been fired as Commissioner by McMahon, so he re-joined DX. BUT, since he'd spent a month screwing DX over all the time, he was set up to be locked out of the arena (implied by X-Pac slyly saying "what goes around comes around" on the 1/4/99 episode of Raw). Then, the Bossman (at least his voice) says "hey, Shawn" and we cut to commercial, only to return to a CSI-style murder scene with HBK laying bloody and a broken windshield in plain view.
Russo, ladies and gentlemen.
As for Austin's theme, yes, the original was more aggressive IMO with the sirens and the more pronounced drums. But the more recognizable version came about in late 1998.

While I can't provide info on the last two questions, I can provide on the first.
Steve Austin debuted his Volume 3 theme on the October 12th, 1998 RAW. His previous theme debuted at Buried Alive: In Your House against Triple H.

lil' off topic but back in the day Porn used to run music during scenes. A lot of wrestling themes, including Owen's theme, were used on them.

They dub it with similar music on DVD's now (which I find hilarious) but I still find it to be a shame as the original Cactus Jack WWF theme was so awesome.
