Creating a Spreadsheet to Track Collection

Yep. I have a spreadsheet. Not as accurate as it was when I started, but it's been helpful in keeping track.

So I started one. So far I have a tab for Elite, the regular series and pop figures.

But now I am noticing these can be very long tabs, lol. Should I break it down by year as well?

Also, I would not mind sharing and building on what people have to suggest.

So far the cell titles are Figure, Own, Series.

At the top I have it spread across those cells saying if this is the Elite page and such.

I've tried excel and word. Excel is better than word imo.

I don't have a spreadsheet. I have a document on the  Notes app that has photo ideas and changes that I'd like to make to my display along with the memorabilia that I have or plan to purchase. Here is an example of my Must Haves, Wants and The Collection portions.

I'm not sure I understand the need for a list of your collection. Is it just to document it for fun, so you don't accidentally buy something twice, or if something happened to your collection you can start to rebuild easier.


I do something similar with all the matches I have in my video library, whether it be vhs or dvd. I list them chronologically. It helps out if someone mentions a certain match, or if I'm reading one of the wrestlers books and they're talking about a specific match, and I wanna go back and watch it. Of course the WWE Network helps out with that too.

I have single spreadsheet for all of my figures with columns for:

- Wrestlers Name
- Faction: can be tag team (Dudley Boys, PTP, ...) or stable (New Day, Four Horsemen, ...) or empty if they like to go it alone
- Promotion: so far I have used ECW (the original, not the WWECW), ROH, TNA, WCCW, WCW (which also includes 80s NWA), WWE Classic, WWE New Gen, WWE Attitude, WWE Ruthless Aggression, and WWE PG
- Figure type: I use short letter codes like J for Jakks, M for Mattel basic, ME for Mattel Elite, O for other brand, and C for custom (CM for a basic custom, CME for an elite custom, etc.)
- Notes: info like Mattel line (E#, B#, BP#, DM, EG), any part switches, extra goodies like Ralph's clothing, or in the case of customs a breakdown of parts used (when I know what part I used ); sometimes I'll enter pre-ordered figures with a special note of ON ORDER.

Can you tell I worked in libraries for over 20 years? I'm very anal about having complete info in a quickly searchable and sortable format.

For me, my document started as a way to catch up on collecting. I would see figures on here that I liked and would go out and buy it once I had the means to do so. It evolved into what it is today which is, since I only display about 10 figures at a time, it helps me keep track of what I have and the upcoming changes I'm going to make to my display. 

I tried doing this years ago and ended up never updating it
