Seriously.
I think that could have single-handily saved Sasha/Becky last night. Make that match a #1 Contenders for the Divas title and now it has meaning and maybe the fans actually care.
Todays booking is just, you beat the champion in a tag match and now your the next challenger. IMO, the champion should never eat a pinfall in a tag match. Even the Tag champs should not be pinned in a Tag match, unless its an on-going program.

Excellent topic
I miss them. It elevates people if they aren't already there.

I actually really enjoyed the rankings that WCW used to do. Where based on wins and losses they would move up and down the rankings, and get chances to challenge the champions.

I never thought about it until reading this, but I actually do.
I mean, they do them now and again currently but it's obvious who will win. I always wanted them to bring tournaments back but #1 Contender Matches may be the thing I now miss most.

The rankings based on wins/losses would be pretty cool but we all know WWE would be too lazy to use it.

I agree with that. The Becky/Sasha match last night was pretty good and those high stakes would have made it even better.

I'm more annoyed at the typical "Rumble Winners WM spot on the line" match that the winner normally has these days.

Excellent topic I miss them. It elevates people if they aren't already there. A great point would be Kevin Owens Vs Cesaro at Summer Slam. Match was good but could have been better if there was something to gain. Maybe a #1 Contenders match for the WWE Championship. There are way too many meaningless matches on shows. Bringing this back would help, a LOT.

I came into this thread and was going to post exactly this, I always thought those were great. Weekly top ten would help alot, ranked matches would instantly matter as they all drive toward the championship. It creates tons of story opportunities. Hell there could even be a network show based around it.

Remember when A Superstar would automatically get a title match if they defeated a Champion?

I miss Number One Contender matches.
I agree with the WCW Ranking system. It makes every match meaningful and would certainly benefit the midcard.

It would put the 'sports' in 'sports entertainment'.
But that's seemingly too hard to do these days...

I also miss when winning the Royal Rumble and KOTR meant something

I think it'd be swell if they brought back the Gold Rush Tournament!

IMO, the champion should never eat a pinfall in a tag match. Even the Tag champs should not be pinned in a Tag match, unless its an on-going program. Champions should never be pinned or submitted. Ever. If someone beats them, then why are they champion? DQ's (for heels obviously) and count outs (sometimes) are fine but a champion should never be defeated. If the titles were treated like serious championships it would definitely make their shows note compelling and being back that must-watch feeling.

I sure do I also miss when winning the Royal Rumble and KOTR meant something I would like to see them get rid of the WrestleMania stipulation for the Royal Rumble. If it is used to push someone into the upper midcard or an upper card guy into the main event scene, it would make them unpredictable. RR used to be my favorite PPV but I haven't bothered watching any in recent years because it's pretty much always obvious who's going to win.

In a way, yeah. But the way they do storylines now where they can sometimes go on for half a year, sadly they don't really fit.

I dont really like how if you pin the champ in a non title match then you are the new #1 contender
