I passes up 2 AJ Lee figures (green shirt) this weekend because of QC. It was hard to walk away from them. One had horrid paint apps and the other one had noticeably lose leg joints. It was tough to find a good Naomi figure as well. I like that Mattel are choosing challenging attires, but the collector pains are real.

The only qc problem I've ever had with mattel was my entrance greats mysterio missing the 6 on his leg so I only had 1 9 on it. Everything after that has been groovy.

Its as if people look for figures with issues.
Because, if it was such a problem as this board tries to make it seem, mattel would be aware and do something.

I've got to admit yes I've had some really frustrating issues with some figures I've ordered but at the end of the day unless they start turning to dust in my hands, I'm not gonna stop buying them. these figures are amazing how good they are. the fact that I can look at a piece of plastic and have all these memories and thoughts rush to my head of that guys best match/promo amazes me. if I have to have a slightly bad figure every now and then so be it because on the whole, I think Mattel are doing an amazing job.

Yes it's horrible. I don't know how they can expect anybody to pay that kind of price because if you really want the figure chances are you'll have to buy 3 or 4 before you get one that's right. Maybe that's the point? Kind of like in the board room meeting in the Santa Clause movie where he says the things fall apart 10 minutes after you get it and you gotta go out and buy more and one of the suits and ties says "I thought that's the point?"

Sorry to have a bit of a rant but I'm getting sick fed up of pre-ordering figures and have them turn up with dodgy paint applications. I've had everything recently from black streaks down Sting's face, Triple H with two sets of eyebrows, Summer Rae with lips painted below her mouth and Stardust with only one painted eye! It's not always easy for me to find the figures I want in the shops to pick the best paint job and being a collector I prefer to pre-order the figures I want. I used to look forward to opening the box of figures when it arrived but now I'm wondering what horror show I'll see when I inspect them I realise that not everyone collects figures purely for display and are fussy about quality control but some of the recent instances have been unacceptable. I don't remember the early Mattel figures having these problems and nor do I remember the Jakks figures having these problems. Don't get me wrong, I love the Mattel figures and think they're generally doing a great job with the license but prices are going up and importing certain figures here to the UK can cost a lot of money and I just don't think it's acceptable. I remember Bill was asked about this in a recent interview and he said he thought Mattel's QC was good. I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts on this. Rant over! He would probably get fired for saying anything else... I mean it would be hard to say "Yeah the products I make for the company I work for are cheap made in China junk" I mean... But it's not his fault anyway he designs good figures that look good on his computer screen rendering and whatever but the actual plastic that comes from China doesn't always turn out the way he planned. Still it's kinda lame to outright lie about it and deny that there's a problem though.

The big problem I've seen has been major variations or deformities in the actual face and head sculpt. I just got a terrible Paige Elite that looks like Michael Jackson with some huge Chyna jaw and chin or something that looks radically different than the other one I had. Same thing with the old Elite Rollins figure I had 3 of them and the shape of the head and face was different on each one. Sometimes it looks like somebody pinched the head while the plastic was still soft. I saw a few of Elite 34 Cena's in Walmart and some had wider faces to wear I couldn't tell which one was the way it was supposed to be.

It's becoming more apparent to me as of late. Joint wise it's the same, and overall I have to say Mattel do produce quite sturdy joints or at least with my experience. But I've found that the paint apps were more consistent earlier and now are getting messier with recent lines especially in the face paint. I remember finding B52, B53 and B54 and nearly every time I saw them, different figs had different issues. The biggest one was that I've seen about 5 different B53 AJ Lees on different occasions, and I think only one of them didn't have this paint error where both her eyes were looking out sideways. Too bad I didn't think I'd find a better one and got one of those, and a few weeks later there was a good one.

Its as if people look for figures with issues. Because, if it was such a problem as this board tries to make it seem, mattel would be aware and do something. it is a problem! I have passed up Naomi like 10 times due to awful paint and she is not easy to find..The qc is absolutely horrible..Jimmy hart for instance it took me hours to get all the red paint marks off his jacket and his swivel was broken. Ive opened two heenan boxsets and both bobbys had loose left legs and loose right hands not to mention black marks on his white jacket that wont come off.. I can find something wrong with EVERY wwe mattel figure and mattel is aware of the problem they do read these boards. The real problem is we allow china to send us crappy products its not just toys its shoes clothes etc. the qc on everything is crap and will continue to be so until we have real leaders in Washington DC. Say what u like but the majority of us know the QC is awful.

E40 Umaga was a big decider in my collecting future. Because of the QC on that (i.e. It's inability to stand) I've decided to cut my collecting WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY back. My wallet's very happy about that.
