Honestly, I don't get the comparisons to movies. Actors have stunt doubles. There is no real contact in action movies. Wrestling is getting slammed on the ground. It's taking a bump off a 20 foot ladder. It's getting smashed in the skull with a chair. It's all a work, but what these people put their bodies through is a shoot. Professional wrestling is a sport, and sports aren't 'fake' If fans stopped pretending it was a sport, non-fans would probably stop thinking that they have to remind us it's fake. When we call it a sport, it makes it sound like we think it's real. Therein lies the problem.

The issue for me is that it's hard to accurately explain what exactly wrestling is without discrediting the guys. Maybe this is one of those things that only fans understand.

Wrestling is 100% "real". You really do fall on your head. You really do get hit. If wrestling was truly fake, nobody would ever get injured, and Daniel Bryan wouldn't have had to retire. Wrestling is scripted, not fake.
