Inspiration from others. When I first started looking on here I was blown away with what guys like Axe, Apoc, and TeddyBallgame were doing and then stoptheclocks starting painting his ass off. I did part swaps and stuff but the exceptional work I was seeing me motivated me to learn to completely dissemble figures and learn how to crack torsos. Unfortunately I'm hardly ever home to do much work but I do enjoy looking. Ellisd and well as you, it's too bad, also do great work and I always look forward to seeing everyone's work. Good or bad. Everyone gets an A for effort in my book. As far as dealing with people, Apoc and Ellisd have been wonders to work with, so to speak

Well, I see sweet customs and I want to make them.
I also love art, so it's fun in that aspect.
Also, I just want a certain figure, or I see a Jakks that I want in Mattel form, so I make it.

My inspiration for customizing goes back to when I was a kid and reading, first, Wizard magazine and then later Toyfare magazine. I would see the great work done in there and be blown away that someone could do that. So eventually I began to notice that my Toybiz x-Men figures were missing Jubilee in her regular attire and a better looking Gambit, so I tried to make my own.
After that, my brother and I started customizing BCA figures. My brother had already been really into building model cars for years. I think that and seeing the customs in Toyfare really inspired us both. We made figures for guys that hadn't been made yet and some original characters too.
Now my inspiration comes from everyone here at Wfigs forumns. I look at the fixup thread multiple times a day. And if I see something I like and feel my collection needs it, I attempt it. I try to limit my customizing to characters or attires that Mattel hasn't made yet as I hate making a custom and then Mattel releasing a version of what I just worked on.
In addition to Mattels, I also enjoy doing Build N Brawl customs and BCA customs.

Simply, to get figures I didn't have yet. Whether it be updated looks, or figures that Mattel didn't have the rights to, like Goldberg, Kurt Angle, Hollywood Hogan, etc. I will say I've seen my custom collection shrink over the years as legitimate, official Mattel produced figures have increased . For instance, made an Elite Demon Finn Balor last year. now, I can replace it with the real thing. At one point I had almost 100 customs. I just counted - I'm now at 28 :
Hollywood Hogan Elite Hollywood Hogan 1999 Basic Hulk Hogan 1989 "Hulk Rules" Elite Hulk Hogan WCW Red and Yellow Elite Hulk Hogan 2003 Elite Mr. America Basic NWA Lex Luger Elite WCW Lex Luger Elite (ponytail) The Narcissist Elite NWA Dusty Rhodes Elite NWA Champ Ric Flair Elite (suit and tie) Big Poppa Pump Elite Eric Bischoff Elite Kurt Angle 2003 Elite El Matador Elite Sid Justice Elite Rhyno Basic "Mean" Mark Callous Elite Undertaker 1993 Elite Undertaker 1997 Elite Undertaker 1999 Ministry Robe Basic Undertaker 2000 American Bad Ass Basic Ryback 2016 Elite Surfer Sting 1991 Elite Chris Benoit Elite Darren Young Elite Titus O'Neil Elite Mr. McMahon 1998 Elite

1. Art I love to paint and love the challenge I get when trying to do extra hard details. 2. This was my first reason, I wanted to make guys who my sons a fan of but don't have elite versions of them. I haven't done many but I plan to do more. 3. The inspiration I get when I see someones baddass creation. There's some hella talented ppl on here, y'all dudes blow my mind at times. 4. Don't know about the money but I will see. I am doing another Venom Balor and depending on what it catches on Ebay I will see if that's something I will do more for some spare cash.
Voted for these 4 reasons lol
