I don't think the fact that Stardust is more interesting of a character is as important as the fact that Stardust will never even smell the main title. Cody at times was treated like an Orton, was never coined as a jobber. I thoroughly believe that it Cody the character were to return, it wouldn't be any different, he'll have a spot and he'll knock whatever's given to him out of the park. A brand split would even do greater wonders for him. I just sadly see Stardust not amounting to much solely on the gimmick.
Either way, it was nice to see him again.

The only good things he did pre-Stardust were bringing the classic IC title look back and growing a mustache. That's. It. Legacy? Dashing? Grotesque? Rhodes Scholars? Brotherhood? All of those were great. What's Stardust done to top any of that? Legacy was more like Orton and the Blands, Dashing was fun for about a week, Grotesque dismantled a decent theme, Cody's Mustache was more over than Rhodes Scholars, and Brotherhood was just a prequel to Stardust. Not to mention most of these involved help from others to attempt to get him over.

When they eventually decide to end the Stardust character & bring Cody back, I'm hoping they do a sit down interview video segment backstage similar to when Cactus Jack returned to face Triple H back in the day. I can just picture Heath Slater standing in the ring waiting for Stardust to come out from behind the curtain only to be interrupted by the four ghosts of Cody Rhodes' Christmas past on the titantron screen. Dashing Cody, Grotesque Cody, Mustachio Cody & Stardust with eventually regular old Cody showing up at the end followed up by the crowds reaction..
Grotesque Cody: "Dashing Cody you really are eye candy for the chicks.."
Dashing Cody: "That much I know daddy but you've got to tell me about this wacky match, falls count anywhere with a Heath Slater?" *rubs nipples, blows kissy face & admires self in mirror*
Grotesque Cody: "Dashing, as much as I dreamed about destroying Heath Slater, there's many horrible things I'd like to do to him, I know there's someone who dreams about it even more.. someone who's willing to do even worse things than myself"
Dashing Cody: "Can you bring him out daddy?" *several more shots of admiring self in mirror*
*Cue random reaction shot of Mustachio laying naked on a beach somewhere while holding a martini in his hand* Mustachio Cody: "CODY RHODES.. IS BACK!"
Stardust: "Why am I here?.. What is my motivation?" :l
Grotesque Cody: "Silence you!"
Cody reveals himself on screen to the audience..
Dashing Cody: "Somebody spank me, I thought he was dead!.. Ohhhhh have mercy.. textbook DASHING!" *Pops a champaygne bottle in the background for no particular reason*

Your refusal to acknowledge Cody's gimmicks, whilst failing to provide anything of note that Stardust has done is laughable.

Just give a heel American Nightmare Cody Rhodes it's a pseudo homage to his dad and he just plays an awesome bad guy.

Turn him into a pseudo Black Reign and call him Blackstar after Bowie's last album.
It could work, dammit.

Stardust as a character is more entertaining than anything else Cody has ever done in his previous endeavours. He was a vanilla mid carder before, at least Stardust gives him a bit of color. Neither are going to send him into the stratosphere but I'll take the gimmick that actually makes me enjoy seeing him on my screen. That's just me though. Just give a heel American Nightmare Cody Rhodes it's a pseudo homage to his dad and he just plays an awesome bad guy. Stardust is also a subtle homage to his dad that also allows him to be his own thing. People have an issue with them not letting Charlotte be his own entity but come up with all these ideas to tie Cody to his father's legacy.

For anyone who says Cody is bland and emotionless, here's not even the best of Cody through the years. Dashing was such an underrated gimmick.
