Just thought this might make a fun discussion.
Who of the superstars that Mattel has released would you say has never had a consistent or decent head/face sculpt?
It seems to me the longer Mattel goes on, the worse the heads get on average.
To my, Bray Wyatt is a guy who has yet to have a truly great scan. His first figure looked nothing like him and from then on theyve done better jobs, but seem to always miss the mark. His new head for example, is probably his best likeness/expression. Mattel though seems to think he belongs in a shampoo commercial with massive amounts of hair.
Another that can be considered, but not for lack of trying is Daniel Bryan. A guy who's look kept changing so drastically that Mattel has yet to put out an up to date Bryan and is always seemingly a step behind.
Anyone else have any thoughts they'd like to share?

Edge comes to mind right away.
Long hair triple h also, though they have done well in short hair triple h
And the most confusing case, cody rhodes, but they have nailed stardust

Jakks had some near perfect hits back in the day but Mattel hasn't nailed it yet. E8 being the worst. I thought the E20 Rhodes head was his best, and the short-lived 'stached head too. |

Brays elite 28 scan is by far one of mattels best likenesses IMO.
As far as someone else goes.. Scott hall and mysterio with his one reused scan over and over

I think Mattel is great with heads, though I've seen a bad John Cena and that new HBK head is horrible, mostly for the way it's painted.
I don't see the problem with most of the heads you guys are talking about.

Usually everybody has had at least one good head. So, I'd really have to look at some of the people who only have a couple different sculpts. Beth Phoenix never had a great sculpt in her two. Edge. Cody Rhodes, but the Stardust one is good. How about Renee Young? Haha.
I'd have to think about some more.

Yep both bray and d bry have had great heads.
Bray - e28 is spot on, its perfect?!
DBry - e28, e32, shaggy goat hair basic, the buzzcut angry basic are all great
For me, old school Rock and pipe bomb era punk are the ones I think need re-attempting.

I'm ok with the grinning headsculpt Savage if you keep his shades on. E23 Savage was pretty good, but only used once. That plain sculpt that they insist on repeadtedly releasing needs to be retired.....like yesterday. And you're right about the DDP as well. I'd also like to add that i haven't seen a Reigns with a particularly great sculpt yet. E38 is a stepin the right direction compared to his first two......but its still not a homerun to me. |

Dolph Ziggler, something gets lost in the transition to plastic, I dunno if it's his hair being one color that throws me off, but he usually never has the likeness I'd like to see. I think the best one was his buzzcut basic, but still something about it looks like it's missing details.
