I just don't really understand why Mattel would waste so much time and money doing all these new sculpts for a Zombie line when the regular Basic and Elite lines could use some new sculpting.
Austin, Bret Hart, Ziggler, are just a few superstars that need new head sculpts... and Mattel can't justify them in their regular lines, but they decide to do this ridiculous (in my opinion anyway) Zombie line and here come the new sculpts.
I guess I just don't understand how, from a financial standpoint, Mattel can justify this.
Jakks did the same kind of things like Camo Carnage, and S.T.O.M.P, and look how those turned out... they couldn't give them away.
I guess I'm just a little more than confused by it all.

I'm not into the whole 'zombify' craze but it's a big trend so I can understand Mattel wanting to cash in on it....and what the heck, I guess it allows the design team to have fun and get creative.

I don't think they are too scary for kids. I think if a kid wants a scary toy he probably isn't scared of it to begin with. That being said I am shocked that mattel would go in this direction. I mean they seem to want to shy away form the blood, gore, and violence of wrestling and these are blatantly gory. Rumor has it that they vetoed a Gory Guerero figure based on his name alone.
That and i'm just not into them. I like wrestling and wrestling figures. IMO this is just Mattels version of Jakks STOMP figures.

The first movie I remember watching was when I was 5 (now 33 going on 34) is night of the living dead. I asked what my parents were watching, said I wanted to watch, they let me. I woke up at 5 am having a panic attack the the zombies were going to get me. Mom sat me down the next day and explained it all to me. Since then, I've laughed at every horror movie I've watched and it's my favorite genre.
So I've grown up on this kind of thing. Had parents that explained the idea to me and I was mature enough to get it. Everyone is different, this just isn't for you/your family. Dosent mean it shouldn't be made and others can buy it.

my kid understood what death was and was even telling other people Macho Man died back in 11 when he was 5. These figures are pretty tame even for "zombie" figures, the green skin makes them look really cartoonish. I am suprised these werent the tie-in with the Scooby Doo movie.

Well, they make Monster High for little grls and they have a character that's decapitated in the box, along with other ghoulish characters and they sell just fine. As far as being based on real people, the presentation is more cartoonish than realistic.

I will agree that a PG rated product having a line of toys with open wounds, peeled back skulls and flaps of flesh revealing muscles and tendons is rather bizarre. It's not about whether or not kids can handle this sort of thing, its entirely about the consistency which a company handles it's marketing.
And good old American values dictate that morbid and bloody toys can be made of WWE superstars but we can't have a Chyna because she made porn long after her in-rimg career.

I'll probably pick these up in a year or two when they're on clearance for $1.88 lol. Destined to warm for sure.

I've seen my share of zombie movies, mostly older ones, so I shudder what could be in some of the newer ones. Because I've seen eye-gougings in Zombi 2 and the Beyond, Nipple biting in Burial Ground, disembowelments galore, decapitations, skinnings, fingers chomped, etc. I wouldn't want my kids seeing that or porn. Jeez.

Let's be real here, Triple H is delusional if he thinks his kids won't find out one way or another. The elephant in the Hiatch household will be addressed eventually, just like the sex talk.

Its a seperate budget. Bill has stated that they can't take a budget from Basics and make it "Elite" budget. Each line has its own budget.

There is nothing scary about these figures. If your child is terrified of them how about explaining that they are just toys or make believe.
