Better Call Saul is a direct spinoff of Breaking Bad. You should absolutely watch Breaking Bad by the way. There are certain events at the end of Breaking Bad that caused Saul Goodman to kind of go into hiding, where he works at a Cinnabon.

Do yourself a favor and take a week off from work, buy some Cool Ranch Doritos, put a pillow under your couch cushion, and watch Breaking Bad. Maybe shower beforehand.

I'll start watching breaking bad tonight on Netflix. So better call Saul would probably make more sense if I had watched breaking bad first.. So I guess breaking bad really is that good huh? It is, but there are things in Saul that will make so much more sense when you've seen breaking bad.

Breaking Bad is not required viewing to watch and enjoy Better Call Saul, but it's certainly recommended viewing to get the most that you can out of it.
With that being said, Breaking Bad is just recommended viewing in general. It is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favorite television show of all time. It's a modern masterpiece, and I don't think saying that could lessen its impact. It's that good.

Breaking Bad was the best personal television experience I've ever had. The only show that got better each season leading into an almost perfect end, in my own opinion.

You are probably also wondering who Saul is at this point as well, since the main character is Jimmy McGill. BB answers that too!!!

Saul is totally stand alone enjoyable. But, with knowledge of Breaking Bad, there are so many little things to enjoy that you would otherwise not even notice. Such as the stock broker Saul manipulated in the last episode. Or The Cinnabon stuff. He makes a joke in BB that he's just going to run away and work at a Cinnabon...which he apparently actually does.
But yeah, Saul Goodman is an ENTIRELY different character in the context of Breaking Bad, his own show is just inevitably leading up to it.
If you enjoy it, you owe it to yourself to watch Breaking Bad. Aside from The Shield, there's really nothing to compare it to, quality wise.

Stop whatever you are doing. Pop some corn. Open Netflix. Binge.
All will become clear.

Not great. It was an incredibly boring show half the time and the only good character was Omar. But then again, that's my opinion. And my opinion don't mean Sh**

Eh, I grew up in inner Baltimore, so it always came across as super lame exploitation to me. Why would I want to watch something I could walk a few blocks to see, you know? Tried to get into a few times, never happened. Omar was awesome, from what I've seen though. The Shield is just so parallel to Breaking Bad, they should almost be brothers.

Let me tell you. I knew Breaking Bad existed when it was first-run, but I was too lazy to actually watch it, and/or didn't believe it was as great as everyone was claiming.
For my birthday the year Breaking Bad ended, I was visiting my mom and grandma with my now-fiance. My grandma is addicted to Netflix and TV in general. She asks if I've ever seen Breaking Bad. I said I hadn't. She tells me it's very intense but very good. She was in the middle of the last season.
I stopped to think - "Well, if my 90-something, born-again-Christian grandmother likes this show, I have to see it."
My fiance and I saw the final episode first (since it was the only 'new' one left). After that, I binged the whole series via AMC reruns in a couple days. Then, used birthday money to buy all seasons on DVD. I hooked my father into the show, who had no idea it existed, but kept having me over to watch my DVDs together. Often, he would insist on knowing certain things ahead of time, but by the time he finished, it was his favorite show. During our binges, he felt bad I was 'suffering through' it all again. I told him not to worry, it was my favorite show.
So yeah. It's worth watching. Saul will make a lot more sense. And once you finish BB, find and watch the alternate ending. Trust me.

Breaking Bad is good and all, but I might be the only person in the world that actually thinks Better Call Saul is even better.

Breaking Bad is good and all, but I might be the only person in the world that actually thinks Better Call Saul is even better. Saul and Mike were my favorite characters from Breaking Bad so I might be leaning that way as well.
