Out of the three top Superstars from that era, which did you prefer? Or did you prefer watching NWA/WCW opposed to the WWF? I'll be honest, I'm kind of confused on the whole NWA/WCW thing..where they one company at that time or where they just using the NWA name like TNA was?
I'm curious to hear your opinions on this. Obviously this was way before my time, but from what I've seen, I've come to prefer Randy Savage in regards to the WWF. I think, overall, he was the most entertaining. Not to take anything away from Hogan or Warrior, but I just prefer Randy.
In terms of WCW/NWA (still kind of confusing on that) I like Sting a lot and Ric Flair. I watched The Great American Bash 1990 a while back and it's one of my favorite PPVs. Love the feel of that old school wrestling. It's just weird watching something like that, because of how different it is from today. Sting's become a top 5 favorite of mine as I've gone back and watched him in his prime.
Anyways, curious to hear what your's is/was.

Hogan was my hero back in the day and has always been my favorite. Randy and Warrior were both good as well....Wait Randy was great as well and Warrior was good. Hulk's promos always got me pumped up, his matches almost always felt special, his music was epic, I loved the Hulk Up, and everything just clicked with Hulk. Another thing about Hulk is that he wrestled pretty much everyone and his feuds and matches felt special.
Randy was my 2nd favorite (fact he is my 3rd favorite of all time), as he was an artist in the ring. His ring attires were awesome, he had Miss Elizabeth, his finisher was great, his promos were intense & fun, and everything with him just clicked. He also had an amazing heel run as The Macho King! His feuds mostly worked well and I was always a mega fan.
Warrior was by far my least favorite of the 3 (no disrespect to Warrior but I never put him on the same level). Warrior had exciting promos, matches, and his ring attire was usually cool, but when I was younger I just never got behind him like I did Hogan and Savage.

I always liked Hulk Hogan better than Macho Man Randy Savage. Ultimate Warrior too. I guess its because Savage was mostly a heel when I was a kid while Hogan and Warriah werent, LOL.

Loved the Ultimate Warrior as kid, bought into him hook line and sinker but as I got older I've started to favor Macho Man most. Was never really a major Hulkamaniac.

I was very much more of an NWA/WCW guy....so my allegiance goes to Ric Flair. However, although i tended to lean more heelish most of the time,i was a Warrior fan when it came to WWF....with Mr Perfect and Rick Rude behind him. Although i liked Randy too. Hogan.....well....i was NEVER a hulkamaniac. But I'll forever acknowledge his importance to the business. And he gave ne someone to root against fiercely. Lol........

If you would have asked this 25 years ago, Hulk Hogan would have been running away with this. There is a lot of biased against Hogan from things people have learned later on where they refuse to go with Hogan on things like this. Sure some might not have like Hogan but you can tell as hugely popular as he was, most people did.

Warrior was my guy when I was a kid. As I got older, Savage. I've only ever really liked Hogan during his nostalgia run.

Savage's body of work has aged much better than those of Hogan and Warrior.

Wow, where to begin?
As a kid I LOVED Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior, & NWA wrestling. I did not care for Hogan.
NWA/wCw/JCP is where you could go for more realistic wrestling. The gimmicks were very subtle and the in ring talent was top notch. Loved watching it every Sat evening. I still remember where I was the day Ricky Steamboat joined Eddie Gilbert to face Flair & Windham.
Randy Savage was just cool. He looked cool and acted cool. Plus Savage wasn't afraid to look weak from time to time. So his matches were always entertaining because you never knew what to expect. I was such a big fan I cried at the end of WM V. Savage's run between WM 4 & 5 is still one of my all time favorite championship runs.
Warrior wasn't a great mic man. He wasn't a technical wizard. But he was bat-poop crazy and it was so fun to watch. Everything about him was fun. I had a big Warrior poster on my wall for years. Warrior defeating Hogan at WM VI was a dream come true. And in my eyes, it was retribution for Hogan defeat Savage the previous year.
Hogan IMO was fun for a year or so. But shortly after WM IV I started to get annoyed with him making everything look fake. I didn't buy into the 15 minute post match pose down. I didn't buy into kicking out after his opponent's finisher. I remember kids being in "awe" when I told them I didn't like Hogan. I heard this exact quote "How can you like wrestling and not like Hulk Hogan?" Back then, that was virtually unheard of.

I got into wrestling between Mania 4 and 5 so I didn't grow tired of the Hogan character until WCW I guess.
He was a superhero and will always be my guy. On the Network, I watch Hogan era stuff up until 92 or so. I do the same with WCw, I watch up until Hogan got there. Weird because I love Hogan, but WCW/JCP was better prior to him and all the other WWF guys.

In terms of WCW/NWA (still kind of confusing on that) WCW was a regional territory, that had national exposure on Turner's networks. NWA was the overall governing body. Think of it like, the Denver Broncos are a football franchise, individually owned and operated. The NFL is the governing body that oversees all of football. WCW was individually owned/operated. NWA oversaw all of the territories.

Of those three I would rank how I liked them in this order... Macho Man Warrior Hogan
But as far as the WWE goes from that era my personal favorite top guys would be ranked like this... Piper Orndorff Macho Man Muraco Santana
But I did love watching the NWA more. With... Sting Dusty Magnum Nikita/Ivan Steiners Road Warriors Horsemen

Savage for me. He cut the best promos, had the better matches and was an all around better character. Warrior was just odd to me and never had an amazing moment other than his title match with Hogan. Hulk had some awesome moments but was never captivating. I was never able to buy into the Hogan character, it was just to simplistic and overbearing.

Ric Flair was always my #1 whether I was rooting for or against him.
I liked Hogan at the very beginning of his run before he won the title and up until about Wrestlemania 2. By then Hulkamania had grown tiresome to me, and I was dying to see anyone beat him. As Marino said, at that time not liking Hogan was like admitting you were an alien.
I was never a big fan of Warrior. I kind of liked him as Dingo Warrior in WCCW and Blade in UWF but he was green. He was better in WWF but I couldn't really get into the Hogan on acid character he had.
Savage was always a favorite of mine from before he went to the WWF and pretty much his entire career. Loved his character and ring work.
