Well rumor has it that there is something big brewing for Mania. So far Ziggler and Miz are going to be a big part of it and seeds were supposedly planted for it on Monday. BUT, maybe it wasn't so much specifically with those two, but the IC Title name drop Dolph did. My guess? An 8 Man IC Title Ladder Match Owens, Styles, Jericho, Miz, Big Show, Ziggler, Neville, and Alberto Del Rio If they gave that match 30 minutes with a Styles victory, then it has match of the night potential. There already was an IC ladder match at last year's Wrestlemania. Don't see another ladder match for the title happening this year..

They need a match that gets a bunch of guys who are alright but don't really deserve a singles match on the grand stage this year. Thing is, Styles shouldn't be in that group. But maybe his inclusion is like Bryan's, where it's a launchpad to showcase him and resurrect the title. Personally, I'd go with Owens defending his belt in a triple threat match against Styles and Jericho. And have Kalisto's title be the one in the random ladder match with Ziggler, Miz, Breeze, Kofi, Sheamus, Neville etc.

AJ is one of the best wrestlers in the world. The WWE style is one of the most timid wrestling styles so I'm pretty sure someone like AJ could master that blindfolded.[/p]
Also if most people don't know who he is then why is his merchandise going crazy? People aren't going to want T shirts of some new guy they don't know.
Tell that to the original Sin Cara. The guy many considered to be the best Mexican cruiser-weight since Rey Mysterio. The same guy that skipped NXT. The same guy that made a living on falling on his face. If you can't find him, look for the Ultimo Dragon. One of the greatest international stars of all time. The same one that could not translate to the WWE style. Point is, timid or not, the WWE style takes time for anyone to master. Be glad WWE was willing to let AJ bypass NXT just so we had him in time for WM. Exactly. It's one of the reasons I'm glad that Nakamura is going to NXT.

I'd have honestly preferred AJ do some time in NXT. Much like Owens. Would've done him wonders to nail his "character" and get comfortable to the WWE style.

Owens, like Balor, was an NXT guy on main roster pay -- they could afford to let them develop. AJ is a 38 year old on main roster main event pay. WWE couldn't afford to just throw him in the money sink that is NXT, they need him to be drawing money straight away. Right now, with the Roman Reigns injury, I think Kane vs Bray Wyatt is the main event of one of the house show rosters. They need to get AJ Styles ready to be that guy next time Reigns or Ambrose is hurt.

My friend attended a recent house show and said a good chunk of fans left once the main event started.

My fantasy booking: -Styles beats Owens for the IC title at Mania -Next night on Raw, Styles defends against Neville and wins a great match. Then Owens attacks him, beat down, and Sami makes the save. -Owens dodges Sami for a couple of months, saying Zayn hasn't proven himself and doesn't deserve to be in the same ring as him. -Zayn and Owens both end up in the MitB match, crowd goes nuts when they start fighting after everyone else takes a tumble off a ladder. -Their first main roster singles match comes at SummerSlam. I know that in reality, they will have had 100 main roster matches even before Extreme Rules and people will have stopped caring.

absolutely not. this was the perfect way to bring in a guy who is the talent of AJ.
He debuts at the rumble, lasts a decent amount of time and gets eliminated by Owens (for dat dere mega heel heat) he got to show off his skill set against one of the most popular and talented wrestlers ever (Jericho) which has now led to some kind of storyline between the two which is more effort than the WWE creative has put into most things lately. He's featured on BOTH weekly TV shows He's got merch selling like crazy He hasn't been made to look like a chump at all
The guy wasn't going to debut and be hotshotted to the main event of Wrestlemania. people need to relax. Vince signed AJ to make him money. He didn't sign AJ to make him a 10x WWE Champion and the top draw. As long as they let AJ wrestle and give people a reason to care about him he will have a nice little WWE career and might even get into their HOF based on his overall stats alone.
