Never seen that done. Maybe it's just where I live though.

I'm glad to see the honesty in this thread. I'm not going to try to change anyone's mind here. If you decide you don't want to let people go in front of you, that's totally fine. There's nothing that says you have to.
I figured this would be an interesting topic to debate and discuss.

I rarely have more than a few items, but when I do, if I notice someone behind me has a few items, I let them go first.

I do if I have a cart full of stuff and they have one thing and no registers are open. Most people that need to buy one soda or something usually use the self check.

I do. If I have a cart full of stuff and someone shows up behind me with 4 things there's no reason that they need to wait behind me, they clearly came to the store to pick up a couple of things and get out.

Do Wal-Mart not have 10 items or less aisles?

I'd rather have a go at the people at the checkout who take items out of their trolley, pay but don't pull their empty trolley forward.

I did this the other day. I had two baskets full of shopping, the guy behind me only had like 3 or 4 things in his hand so of course I offered to let him go first.
Also, I can't stand people that take their full weekly shopping to the self check out machine when I'm behind them with 5 items.

There is no logistically good way to pull this off either. The little space they give you to put your stuff up is never big enough for all their purchases...so they have to keep bagging and shuffling their cart. Then because they're moving bags around, the register keeps locking up and saying "unexpected item in bagging area" or "please return item to bagging area". Gah! I'd rather have a go at the people at the checkout who take items out of their trolley, pay but don't pull their empty trolley forward. I don't know that I've ever experienced this before.

Also ever since the 5p per bag charge was incorporated in Scotland I find myself having to practically beg for a bag every time I need one because a lot of the people serving me are seemingly too ing stupid to even ask if I need one when it's painfully obvious that I do. Last week I was served in McDonald's by a gormless brain dead c*nt who had to be the same age as me. I ordered several burgers and was taking them out so I obviously needed a bag to carry them in. This guy didn't even bother to ask if I was sitting in or taking away or if I needed a bag. Once my order was ready the tool tried to hand me all of the burgers without a bag! What did he think I was going to do? Juggle my order out of there on a unicycle?

Always. I also let people with young kids go first if I'm by myself.

I've never seen people take a full cart to the self checkout but usually a basket filled to the ing brim with items when all I want to do is pay for one or two things quickly and leave. It's annoying as hell.

Most likely I would if I have a lot of stuff and I see they have one or two things.
It is just a nice thing to do if you can (but one per day lol).
