March 26, 2016 - As WWE was gearing up for a colossal WrestleMania 32 in ATT Stadium in Arlington, TX, a rather inconspicuous deadline had passed. Fifteen years had come and gone since the last episode of WCW Monday Nitro, as the brand was absorbed by WWE. Although WWE still retains the video library and many of the related marks, the actual trademark to promote professional wrestling shows under the WCW brand expired on Saturday March 26, 2016. With the renewal of the document sitting on a C-Level Executive's desk, likely an executive who will not be working there as of Monday. Shortly after the mark expired, a claim was placed, and wcw.com simply redirected to Coming Soon text and the old school WCW logo.

Today, on WCW.com, there was an announcement posted. Today WCW announces the first additions to it's roster. These announcements will continue like so for the next few days. We plan on bringing you not only names you have seen on TV but also hungry wrestlers who want to make their presence felt from the independent community. You may ask yourself, WCW was at times seemingly built on the established veterans. Why would you call this new company by those initials if you're planning on highlighting the best unknown talent in the world? There are two reasons. First of all, while one of the mistakes the original WCW made was relying on their veterans far too much, WCW also provided a platform for many talented wrestlers to show the world their talent, such as Rey Mysterio Jr, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Booker T, and many more! The second reason is ambition. WCW is the only company name in the world besides WWE that has ever been able to say that it is the #1 Wrestling Company in the world. We plan on reaching that goal again. So, today's announcement includes a former World Champion, The "It Factor of Professional Wrestling" Bobby Roode, as well as a very hungry man ready to show the promise after his career has been on the backburner for the last couple of years, the Death Machine himself, Sami Callihan. We are also proud to announce the 6'7", 400 pound monster that is Kongo Kong, and the unpredictable, charismatic Rude Boy Riley! We are also proud to announce our first tag team, a team that is heating up the European scene, two of the baddest men on the planet, Tommy End and Michael Dante, the Sumerian Death Squad!

(ooc: I probably won't be around much Friday or Saturday at all, so I'm going to include the final two days of roster reveals in this post. Next week I'll be announcing other stuff.) From WCW.com: We are so excited to announce the next pieces to the puzzle that is WCW. We have a former World Champion in Nick Aldis! As a matter of fact, let's make that two former World Champions, as Masato Tanaka has also signed with WCW! Louis Lyndon is the Master of the Snake Style and a man to watch in WCW's Cruiserweight Division! Another Cruiserweight to watch is "The Patron Saint of Wrestling" Anthony Henry! And to add to our tag team division, we already have the Cutter Brothers, how about another team of brothers, Ross and Marshall, the Von Erich Brothers! From WCW.com: As the end of the week, we announce the six who round out the intial WCW Roster. Next week, we will have announcements about backstage staff, announcers, referees, and when you can see WCW action in your town or on television or your device screens. Eric Young has gone from a scrappy youngster to an established ring veteran in front of a large audience. This former World Champion is ready to show WCW what he has to offer. Chris Adonis was gaining a budding reputation as one of the most solid in-ring guys in the country and then largely stepped away from the public life in 2011. He's now ready to make his return to major televised wrestling. "The Premiere Athlete" Anthony Nese is another really exciting addition to WCW's Cruiserweight scene, and "The Southern Savior" John Skyler is a very dangerous, charismatic man. Our final tag team comes to us after finding each other in the Land of the Rising Sun. Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Lance Archer are the Killer Elite Squad!

great to see you back, stuffs. it's totally fitting that you're returning with a wcw reboot haha. the roster introductions are great with former tna names such as roode, young, magnus, and mvp to build around. the additions of main indy attractions - hero, low ki, sami, ar fox are great as well. the wcw.com roster updates are simple and straight to the point. i like your format of a main player, a cruiserweight and a tag team. things are shaping up really good so far. can't wait for the first show. hope to see some classic wcw stars make an appearance like bischoff, hall, nash, ddp, etc... somewhere down the line.

(ooc: Sorry for the delay in updates. I had to get a new computer, so we should be good now. Also, no photo editing software yet. I'll try to have gfx ready by the first show.)
After announcing our great roster last week, WCW is pleased to announce several huge updates!
While we are still putting together a touring schedule, we would like to announce where you can catch us on TV and more!
We are very excited to announce that WCW Worldwide, which was a wrestling staple for over 25 years, will be returning Friday April 15, at 8 PM/7 PM EST! For one hour each week, you will see the best in WCW action! You will be able to catch each week's episodes on WGN America!
Our very first show? It will emanate LIVE from the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre in Atlanta! Get your tickets NOW at wcw.com!
The action will be called by veteran play by play man Todd Keneley! He has worked for several wrestling companies over the years. He will have quite a challenge in reigning in his color commentator. Perhaps the most controversial man in the wrestling business, he is a former WCW United States Tag Team Champion, World Tag Team Champion, TV Champion, US Champion, and World Heavyweight Champion... The Big Bad Booty Daddy, Freakzilla, Holla if You Hear Me, it's Scott Steiner!
David Penzer, the voice of WCW, will be returning to the wrestling world to lend his voice to ring introductions. And in our backstage staff, we have a collection of WCW legends to work in the agent role. Perhaps the best tag team worker to ever live, "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton, one of the original cruiserweights, Too Cold Scorpio, British Legend Dave Taylor, and latter day standout Jimmy Yang! With these four, we feel confident that we have a great backstage staff.

Looks promising, not sure if you've had any previous diaries but I'll be checking this out when I can.
