Was that really the best we could've done for Sheffield? Paxton is good, but he's not super young and injury prone.

Sheffield's ceiling was never that high to begin with. I look at this as the same kind of thing they did trading Austin Jackson for Curtis Granderson.
Paxton could be coming into his prime years, some of his recent injuries were just "bad luck" kind of things (like getting hit by a line drive), and if he's healthy he is a lights-out kind of pitcher who's already had plenty of experience pitching in the AL and vs AL teams.
If the Yankees continue to fill out the rotation and sign either Happ or Corbin (or both) I'm fine with it going forward.

Adrian Beltre retired. For the longest time, I didnt see him as a Hall of Famer as he wasted some prime years in Seattle, but I cant argue with 3000 hits. If he played one more season, Im sure he couldve cranked out the 23 HRs he needed to reach 500 while batting .280 with 80 RBIs

He'll get in because of the numbers, that's about it. He'd be on the lowest level of HOF guys.

Muts shopping Syndergaard. Also, Ruben Amaro Jr. was promoted to being Assistant GM, because they really are that stupid.

It's been a long time since I've posted here.
Yankees did well in their acquisition of Paxton. No brainer move.

I know I'm a little late with this... But how the hell does Cora not win 'manager of the year'?

I know I'm a little late with this... But how the hell does Cora not win 'manager of the year'? Because it's really easy to win when they hand you the best roster on one of the highest payrolls. Yankee and Red Sox managers should never win Manager of the Year when we have individual players that are higher than entire teams payrolls.

Phillies trade Carlos Santana and JP Crawford for Jean Segura. Phillies also get Juan Nicasio and James Pazos. Nicasio is pretty much a whatever, but Pazos is coming off a year with a 2.88 ERA. Combined with ridding themselves of the Santana contract, I think it's a total win for the Phillies. Kinda sad to see Crawford go, though. I remember for years how much he was hyped as our SS of the future. Our next Rollins, minus the power. Really hope he can put it together and have success in Seattle.

Crawford, in theory, should be a mid-high average, high OBP guy - with a plus glove to boot. He's taken a while to adjust at every level with the bat, and has dealt with a string of injuries in the majors, so I still fully believe he could put it together. Not exactly J-Roll 2.0, but if the M's are blowing it up, he's a good guy to have at the top of the lineup for a rebuilding team.

Patrick Baron Corbin signs with the Nationals for 6 yrs/$140 million. Their top 3 starters will make $78.3 million combined next year. Yankos werent willing to go more than 5 yrs/$100 million for him.

I think the Yankees did good on not giving Corbin 140. Too much. Alex Cobb has one good year and look what he did this year. If the Yankees can trade for Kluber or Bauer, or sign Happ or Eovaldi, then they are in solid shape. Still think they are in the hunt for Machado. The Mets should’ve acted earlier and acquired Zunino rather than Cano. They would’ve given up less.
