The back end of the Giants starting rotation is brutal. Jake Peavy(9.00 ERA) and Matt Cain(7.00 ERA) are abysmal. I don't think they could even succeed in Triple-A right now, that's how awful they've been. The problem is, the Giants don't have any viable options right now. They're just gonna have to pencil in two losses and cross their fingers and hope they win the other 3 games. They're gonna have to wait till the trade deadline to get some backup.

I just hope this leads to them firing Joe Girardi. That would make a waste of a season worth while for me.

I don't count the one game playoff as actually getting into "the Playoffs"......and the only reason the Yankees were even in the one game playoff was because they blew a 10 game lead in the Division! July 31 the Yankees had a 10 game lead.....if the season had gone on for 2 more days the Yankees would have managed to fall out of the 2nd Wild Card spot too.

the problem with the Yankees is that they are "built for home runs" and the core of the lineup is A-Rod, Tex & Beltran. Ellsbury is inconsistent Gardner is the speedy guy who rarely steals bases McCann clearly has vision problems Didi has always been an average player Castro needs to learn how to run bases Headley is cashing in because whatever he was a few years ago he's not in a Yankee uniform (what a surprise) Basically we have a team of 7 guys who are already past their primes, and 2 guys (Castro/Didi) who are still young and have a lot to learn. You can't build a team around 3 older home-run or bust hitters. And stop with this "short porch in right" bullcrap. The Short porch doesn't do a ing thing when these guys are swinging at first pitches late in the game, or softly grounding out to the pitcher or hitting directly into shifts.

CC Sabathia is on the DL
The hits just keep on coming for the Yankees.....just not the hits that cause runs to be scored, lol

Yeah, its the Yankees and they exposed how bad David Price is. Also, JH Kang is back

Also, JH Kang is back Indeed he has returned, and dropped two cannonballs on the Cards for their troubles. It's nice to have some power back in the line up. Decent OBP in the middle of the lineup so either he can bring all of them home or we have a shot at a few sac fly runs which are almost as good.

And the Cubs sweep the Nats. Damn they look good, their best 30 game start since 1907 aka the last time they won the World Series.

baseball needs to change their rules in regards to injuries. this whole crap about 15day DL being the minimum outisde of concussions needs to stop. you have guys like Ellsbury who are HURT, and now are hurting the team because the manager doesnt want to shut him down for 2 weeks, plus i guess players look at DL stints as black marks on their careers, and so they just have a guy literally rotting on the bench not doing anything
there needs to be a procedure in place when a guy gets banged up or gets a minor injury like what potentially happened with Ellsbury that you can call up a player from AAA to fill in the spot at least on the bench.
it's bad enough the rosters are way too small for things that happen but there is no good reason why teams have to just be without any extra players because they dont want the guy sitting out 2 weeks.

Woot, another series win. Now on to the Braves.
I know they're not winning anything this year, but damn, it feels good to enjoy a Phillies game again. Can't wait for Williams, Crawford, Alfaro, and Thompson to get up here.

Stephen Strasburg gets a 7 yr/$175 million extension. Good move, but the Nationals wont have any money to keep Bryce Harper now.

After 2018, they will be shedding the contracts of Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez, Andre Ethier, Scott Kazmir, Brandon McCarthy and Kershaw might opt out around that time. Maybe 10 yrs/$340 million for Harper?
