i thought they were going to plan something a lot crazier yet safer - like a very worked spot possibly even featuring a stuntman instead of shane if done properly. what we got was a guy legit taking an insane fall. good either way.

I think Vince McMahon's bump off of the cage at St. Valentine's Day Massacre '99 on to the table was worse than Shane's.

That's what I was saying. When Mick was tossed they didn't have the safety precautions that Shane had last night. But that said I still feel it was unneeded for Shane to do that spot. I felt sorry for Shane's kids. I'm sure they were terrified seeing their father fall from that height. They came to the ring through the curtain. I'm sure they received plenty of reassurance from Shane and Undertaker that all was going to be fine.

Not too high. The jump off spots are few and far between, as the point of the match is for them to be locked in.
I imagine the higher cell makes it easier for people higher in the arenas to see what's going on.

Shane gets my ultimate respect for doing that bump. He didn't have to, but he did, and it added a lot more to the match. Shane McMahon is the modern day Terry Funk.
Middle aged and crazy.

It's not high enough, dammit. I'm surprised they haven't built a super cage, suspended it and called it "Hell in Heaven" or something lol

I cannot imagine if he had botched it and missed the table. Would've been a disaster. But padded table or not, I wouldn't have jumped. Mad respect for Shane!

I feel like some of the others on here
For Foleys fall I was 18 years old and thought it was the coolest thing in the world Along with The Rock beating the hell out of him with 25 chair shots to the head
I'm 36 now, with three kids. Cringe day seeing Shane going up to do that spot. Cool as hell it totally not needed and thank God nothing went wrong with it
Much much respect for him but IMO not needed

i don't like how high it is either. Aestetically the old cell looked better. It just needs to be high enough to still dive off the top rope.

The Punk vs Ryback and Heyman / Ambrose vs Rollins. (Even the young guys were pretty high up) It looked too tall for them to do bumps but wow, even with a pad he jumped and landed on it! Crazy old er.

I used Stevie Richards head on a triple h body for Seth Rollins I kid you not

My brother and I have been watching wrestling for so long and I can't speak for him but I know as I watched Shane climb I was absolutely terrified and after he jumped I decided I never want to see any wrestler do that again ever. Absolutely terrifying. He is a crazy man.

I had a hard time enjoying that spot. That's not a complaint, I understand why they did it - because they literally had nothing else. The whole show was essentially predicated on that single moment. But as a fan growing older, seeing Shane McMahon walk to the ring with his young children, and knowing what he was likely going to do, I was sort of dreading it. Of course, I sat with my mouth agape as he ascended the cell, and was in awe when he jumped, but I couldn't enjoy it. I like danger in wrestling as much as the next guy, but I just didn't need to see that spot. Again, it's not a complaint. I completely get why it was done, and I commend Shane for sacrificing his body and being a willing participant to that mayhem. I just don't need that type of extreme risk anymore. It doesn't do anything for me, and if WWE had done a better job handling Wrestlemania, they wouldn't have needed a stunt like that to sell the show. This couldn't have summed up any better how I felt too. I'm not even too sure it got the reaction from the live crowd that I was expecting it too either. Everybody knew it was coming, everybody, and we all knew he'd have no choice but to do something like that to help rescue the Show since the Company can't offer anyone else credible enough to face the Undertaker other than John Cena. Maybe it's just because I'm 26 and don't appreciate it like I did when he did it at Summerslam 2000, maybe I've just seen it all so many times over the years with Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley etc, I'm not sure. Either way, as great of a moment it was, 10 seconds after I was sat back on my seat calm as you like.

To be fair though it's what people want from a Hell in a cell match. The original attraction of the cell was someone falling from the roof. Infact it's what made that match famous. A few years ago when Ambrose and Rollins fell it was an awesome nostalgic moment and reminded me of what Hell in a cell's was originally like.
As for Shane he has always done crazy stuff like that and Summerslam 2000 didn't need saving but yet he did one there aswell. IMO it's something Shane enjoys doing.

That cell match at Wrestlemania sure got me pumped for WCT to do a Hell In A Cell for the Authentic Scale Ring!

I don't think Shane needed to do that spot. We all knew he wasn't going to win the match so to me i felt weird about it. There was a small part of me that thought WWE pulls the swerve but idk. I just felt like that match didn't mean enough to have that big spot.

I think Vince McMahon's bump off of the cage at St. Valentine's Day Massacre '99 on to the table was worse than Shane's. The fall itself turned out worst because Vince landed on the edge of the table rather than landing flat like Shane did. But there's no question as far as the stunt itself, Shane's was way riskier and more dangerous. Vince's fall was only, like, 10 feet.
