Believe it or not, I do have a life outside of this toy forum.
I'm going to college, and this semester I am taking more classes due to cutting down my work schedule dramatically. I think I mentioned that a few months ago that I was considering it. Anyways, last semester I was taking Business Calculus, but I ended up having to drop it because I couldn't get anywhere near a passing grade. This semester I re-took it, along with some other new classes, and I've been doing a lot better. I've had time to actually study and practice instead of being at work or being in a depressed mood due to work.
This test we took today I got a 97. That's literally the highest grade I've gotten on a math test in...like since Middle School. I've always struggled with math, but I've been putting in lots of work this semester on it, and I guess it's showed. Only thing that is a downer is that my Grandma passed away before one of my tests, so I wasn't in a very good state of mind and didn't study like I had on my previous test (which I got a 92). I bombed that test, but luckily she drops the lowest test grade. So if I continue working hard I might actually pull an A in a Math class. If you know me, the very thought of that is astounding because I've always just barely scraped by in Math. I guess I had it in me all along...
Thanks for reading. Just thought I'd share I guess.

I feel ya big dog. Math's a bitch to those who just don't get it. I failed basic algebra in high school twice and college algebra in my undergrad. From there I coasted with comfy 70% passing grades until a Macroeconomics class my second to last semester. Dickwad of a teacher but I got an A. Math's always seemed like one of those "you can do it or you can't" kinda things. I'm sure in times passed you memorized the formulas and steps for whatever would be on a test, managed to get the homework out no problem and did well on other book work but the second an exam hit you: it was time to begin questioning the meaning of life itself. Suddenly all of the formulas, still in your head, make absolutely no sense. Good on ya Bart. Don't know how many more math courses you'll have to take for your degree depending on the college and its core criteria. I won't lie to you and tell you they get easier. Especially stats. stats. But use this good grade as proof and motivation that you CAN do it. The one thing about math is that it does build upon itself especially in college. If you don't understand the first few weeks of crap you're ed. But if you get down the fundamentals that's half the battle for the next test because all it is is what you did on the first one with more crap added on. My little Bart's growing up.

Glad you're doing good. I've struggled with mathematics since middle school. Keep up the good work, I wish you luck in everything you do.

Good job, brother. And you didn't once ask for my help, which in and of itself is a great sign.

Congrats man! Math is a pretty difficult subject, I got a 35% on my 1st Math test this semester. Knowing I had to do much better in the 2nd exam I studied for like a day straight and got an 88% on my 2nd exam, my teacher drops the lowest grade as well so I'm still able to pass with a good grade. My main struggle right now is Econ it's the hardest class I ever took and I may have to take it again next semester just because I haven't been doing good lately.

Congrats. I suck at math too.
This semester I'm taking an intro to physics class. I'm doing decent in it but its difficult for me to learn. Plus there is lab class that goes with it so its like a 3 hour class in total. Thank god this semester is almost over and there are only a few more classes for it left.

I love math. Applied math especially (physics, chemistry, etc).
Pulleys, force equations, optics, acid/base (Henderson-Hasselbalch). All fun stuff. The wonderful thing about math is that there is no subjectivity. There is one right answer... Well, in most cases anyway ;-)

I am getting my ass kicked by collegue. You actually inspired me with your story to stop acting so inmature with my studies, I just don`t listen to those close to me for whatever reason. Congratz Stan, you deserve it.
