Your "Matches of the Night" from each WrestleMania

Here is my list of favorite matches from the Grandest Stage of them All. Most of these are the final match of the night, for the WWF Championship. For those that are not, I gave a short explanation why I picked them.

WM – Tag Team match with Special Guest Referees Muhammad Ali and Pat Patterson
WWF Champion, Hulk Hogan and Mr. T (w/ Jimmy Snuka) vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr. Wonderful, Paul Orndorff (w/Cowboy Bob Orton)
The final match of the night, featuring the WWF Champion, the number one Heel and Mr. T.!!

2 – WWF Championship Title Steel Cage match
WWF Champion, Hulk Hogan vs. King Kong Bundy (w/ Bobby The Brain Heenan)
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship, inside a Steel Cage!!

III – WWF Championship Title match
WWF Champion, Hulk Hogan vs. André The Giant (w/ Bobby The Brain Heenan)
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship. The first time the Champ was the “Underdog”, sort of.

IV – WWF Championship Title match
Macho Man, Randy Savage (w/ Miss Elizabeth and Hulk Hogan) vs. The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase (w/ Virgil and André The Giant)
The final tournament match of the night, for the vacant WWF Championship.

V – WWF Championship Title match
WWF Champion, Macho Man, Randy Savage vs. Hulk Hogan
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship and Miss Elizabeth!!

VI – WWF and Intercontinental Championship Title match
WWF Champion, Hulk Hogan vs. Intercontinental Champion, The Ultimate Warrior
The final match of the night, for the Undisputed WWF / Intercontinental Championship.

VII – WWF Championship Title match
WWF Champion, Sgt. Slaughter (w/ General Adnan) vs. Hulk Hogan
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship and the U. S. A.!!

VIII – WWF Championship Title match
WWF Champion, The Nature Boy, Ric Flair (w/ Mr. Perfect) vs. Macho Man, Randy Savage (w/ Miss Elizabeth)
It wasn’t the final match of the night, but it was for the WWF Championship. I understand that Hulk Hogan was the bigger Star, but I’d rather see a Main Event match between # 2 and # 3 (you decide who’s who) for the richest prize, instead of # 1 and # 4 (at the that very moment), for pride.

IX – WWF Championship Title match
WWF Champion, Bret The Hitman Hart vs. Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji)
The final scheduled match of the night, for the WWF Championship. I just won’t get into what happens after.

X – WWF Championship Title match with Special Guest Referee Rowdy Roddy Piper
WWF Champion, Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette) vs. Bret The Hitman Hart
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship. I always thought Owen Hart should have faced Yokozuna for the WWF Championship. I would have been okay with Lex Luger going 2 for 2 that night. This should have been the first WrestleMania WWF Championship Triple Threat match. This could have been the first WrestleMania WWF Championship Fatal Four Way match, if Owen Hart was included.

XI – WWF Championship Title match
WWF Champion, Diesel (w/ Pamela Anderson) vs. Shawn Michaels (w/ Sid and Jenny McCarthy)
It wasn’t the final match of the night, but it was for the WWF Championship. Lawrence Taylor and Bam Bam Bigelow did their thing, but I don’t think it should have ended the show. Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy should have ended the show. Wait, didn’t Shawn Michaels win the services of Ms. Anderson at the Royal Rumble??

XII – WWF Championship Title 60 Minute Iron Man match
WWF Champion, Bret The Hitman Hart vs. Shawn Michaels (w/ Jose Lothario)
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship with Overtime.

13 – WWF Championship Title No disqualification match
WWF Champion, Sycho Sid vs. The Undertaker
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship. The first WM Main Event spot for the Streak.

XIV – WWF Championship Title match with Special Outside Enforcer Mike Tyson
WWF Champion, Shawn Michaels (w/ Triple H and Chyna) vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship. Plus having Iron Mike Tyson adds to the hype. I wish he had a match instead.

XV – WWF Championship Title No disqualification match with special guest referee Mankind
WWF Champion, The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship. The first WrestleMania Main Event match between my second favorite Star of all time vs. my other second favorite Star of all time.

2000 – WWF Championship Title Fatal 4 Way Elimination match
WWF Champion, Triple H (w/ Stepahnie McMahon - Helmsley) vs. The Rock (w/ Vince McMahon) vs. Big Show (w/ Shane McMahon) vs. Mick Foley (w/ Linda McMahon)
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship. I am one of the very few who feel it was “best for business” to involve the McMahons in the match.

X-Seven – WWF Championship Title No disqualification match
WWF Champion, The Rock vs. Steve Austin
The final match of the night, for the WWF Championship. Number 2 vs. Number 2…Round 2!!

X8 – Undisputed WWF / WCW Championship Title match
Undisputed WWF / WCW Champion, Chris Jericho (w/ Stephanie McMahon) vs. Triple H
The final match of the night, for the Undisputed WWF / WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Yes The Rock and Hulk Hogan stole the show, but they stole it, because it wasn’t theirs to begin with, sort of. Anyway, I agree with McMahon’s decision to give the most importance to the WWF Championship AND WCW Championship.

XIX – WWF Championship Title match
WWF Champion, Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. Ric + Hunter + Booker + Big Gold Belt = Main Event in any other PPV, including Starrcade and Bound For Glory, but I respect what Vince did here. It would have been too easy for the Nature Boy and the Game to get the last spot on the card with the former 5 X WCW Champion for the World Heavyweight Title, but they knew what they were doing back then. They knew it was only fitting that two “Wrestlers” Main Evented the “Greatest” WrestleMania in History.

XX – World Heavyweight Championship Title Triple Threat match
World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels
This is the first match I picked where the WWF Champion or the WWF Championship isn’t involved in the match. Still, it is the final match of the night, but for the World Heavyweight Championship. I’m not taking anything away from the great match between Eddie and Kurt, but to me, this was the first sign that the WWE Championship and the World Championship were equal. Plus the chance to see Angle win # 5 wasn’t as appealing at the time than seeing DX Explode on the Grandest Stage and Benoit win his first World Title.

21 – World Heavyweight Championship Title match
World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H (w/ Ric Flair) vs. Batista
This is the second match I picked where the WWF Champion or the WWF Championship isn’t involved in the match. Still, it is the final match of the night, but for the World Heavyweight Championship.

22 – WWE Championship Title match
WWE Champion, John Cena vs. Triple H
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. Finally, after 2 years of being the new Intercontinental Title, the WWE Title takes its “rightful” place on the card.

23 – WWE Championship Title match
WWE Champion, John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. I actually loved this idea better than the rumored Main Event, Cena / HHH II The Rematch.

XXIV – World Heavyweight Championship Title match
World Heavyweight Champion, Edge (w/ Vickie Guerrero, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder) vs. The Undertaker
This is the third match I picked where the WWF Champion or the WWF Championship isn’t involved in the match. Still, it is the final match of the night, but for the World Heavyweight Championship. Streak vs. Title (and Streak…sort of). It has a nice touch to it.

XXV – WWE Championship Title match
WWE Champion, Triple H vs. Randy Orton
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. This felt like what WM 21 should have felt like.

XXVI – Streak vs. Career Match
The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels
This is the first match I picked where it was not about the WWF Championship, and not about the World Championship. Streak vs. Career and to this day, still holds to be as true as it gets in Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment.

XXVII – WWE Championship Title match
WWE Champion, The Miz (w/ Alex Riley) vs. John Cena
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. I always wondered if the Anonymous Raw GM was going to make it a Triple Threat match and insert the Rock…but the Rock didn’t feel like it or something.

XXVIII – Once In A Lifetime match
The Rock vs. John Cena
This is the second match I picked where it was not about the WWF Championship, and not about the World Championship. It was about one of my all-time favorites (tied for second favorite with Stone Cold Steve Austin) vs. my Son’s favorite. We can see Cena smelling what the Rock was cooking!!

29 – WWE Championship Title match
WWE Champion, The Rock vs. John Cena
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. Seeing my 3 year old son cry due to the outcome of a Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment match for the first time the year before broke my heart. He had all but given up on this crazy show. When I told him there would be a rematch, but this time it would be for the new WWE Championship Title Belt (the Big Scratch), his interest returned. I told him, since the Rock got the last win, I’ll side with him and hope Cena wins this one, when it really counts. If Cena lost, he would have quit watching WWE altogether. Seeing my 4 year old son celebrate due to the outcome of a Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment match for the 112th time never gets old, but this one match, in my opinion, was the biggest match for the both of us to witness.

XXX – WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title Triple Threat match
WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. There was only one way this match was going to end, and I’m glad they followed through.

31 – WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title Triple Threat match
WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. The biggest surprise here was the first ever Money In The Bank cash in at WrestleMania by the first ever NXT Champion.

32 – WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title match
WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H vs. Roman Reigns
The final match of the night, for the WWE Championship. Say what you want about Triple H, he is the King Of Kings and he proved that he will always do what’s best for business.
