So this is a weird thread, but color me interested. Obviously, throughout the Rumble match they purposely put people in the ring to eliminate someone else as to set up feuds. And there's always a legend or two that last a little bit. And we also know how the winner/runner up are chosen.
But what about everyone else? I was curious if anyone had ever heard through shoot interviews how the wrestlers actually make the Rumble work. Obviously it can get pretty chaotic in there when you sometimes have eight or nine people in there. How does, say, Dolph Ziggler who entered at seven know to get dumped out, when and by who? While also remembering who to dump out at certain times?
Are the guys told by the outside refs when they're down for a rest how much longer Vince and Co. want them to go? I've never really seen any shoots on this so I'm curious if anyone else has wondered? For mid card guys in particular who get a couple of eliminations and have a lengthy run each Rumble, gotta figure it gets a little confusing trying to keep track of the time in one of the more fast paced matches.

Wrestlers draw numbers from 1 - 30. Starts out with number 1 and number 2, and every 2 minutes a new combatant enters the ring. It doesn't end until all 30 men have entered. You have to throw your opponent over the top rope, thus having both feet hit the floor to be eliminated. The winner usually receives a WWE Title shot at Wrestlemania.

I am a wrestler .... In our battle royals the final four are chosen in the back, everyone is told not to eliminate them, but they can try obviously. Everyone else can do what they please, and try to go for as long as they want , if some people want to do a spot the plan it out other wise what ever goes goes, as for the final four normally they have the order and more spots planned, until the chosen winner from the back wins. Now that I told you this I'll get my ass kicked by every wrestler out there lol.

For the Royal rumble they all go into a room before hand and plan it
Even the surprise entrants
I remember Jericho saying in one of his rumble returns that he was surprised that none of the wrestlers leaked it out since everyone in the rumble knew he was gonna be a suprise since they were all in the room planning it
I imagine if a guy gets lost or forgets enough of the other wrestlers know what's gonna happen that they can cover for them

From what I've heard Pat Patterson used to be like a master artist of putting Rumbles together.
Also to kind of confirm what was said earlier, on Talk Is Jericho Styles said when he debuted he was trying hard to figure out when was the right time to get his stuff in and when to let other guys shine. He also thanked Jericho for taking the forearm.

Below is a really good read from former ref Jimmy Korderas that will answer most of your questions. The refs basically conduct traffic during the rumble csrwrestling.com/korderas-being-a-royal-rumble-referee/

The winner also takes a brief moment to point at the wrestlemania sign. They really like that. Fixed

Just don't do what Alex Riley did. Then of course you have the Austin botch, where he was meant to last until the final four until he couldn't hold on and fell out
