Hey guys,
Well one advantage to living in Australia is we seem to get movies early. Anyway, this afternoon me and my girl went along to see Civil War.
So, Here we go. Overall impression was strong although I must say, I don't like seeing the Avengers going against each other. I am not into the comics, so I can't compare it to them. I like the movies keep track of them and have a general understanding of where we are heading to with infinity wars etc.
So some points I really liked.
Spider-Man - well, I think they have finally nailed it. He is smart-ass kid that doesn't have a clue. But he plays an important part in the major fight scene. It is really enjoyable to see him. His suit is given to him by Stark.
Ant-man - plays the comic relief. Does it very well, and yep we see him go Giant Man.
And now my fav new person (I know Ant-man isn't new)
Black Panther - man he kicks ass. Total bad ass. He really is a strong force and they play him off as strong. I am very excited to see his solo movie.
Overall, the movie is great. To me the great thing about Marvels movieverse is that at the end of each movie, I always have a smile. End the end the good guys win, and we all get to believe in team work and the greater good. This movie left me wondering what is next. Maybe that is the point, but it just seems a little heavy.
I would recommend seeing it.
If anyone has any questions ask away. I'm happy to give anything away - so other been warned.

Man I had a hard time avoiding this thread before I went and saw it. Just got out. Movie was awesome I agree with pretty much everything you said. Paul Rudd despite all the junk talked about him being cast to play Ant Man really pulls off the character well. Seeing him going into full on Giant Man mode had the theater erupt dude. Tom Holland is THE end all be all Spider-Man in my eyes now. He did a fantastic job, really made me laugh. They cast him perfectly. Lots of good action, Crossbones got some good licks in on Cap too. That really stood out. Black Panther kicked ass, his chase scene was intense. The big battle scene brought the damn house down. Loved seening everybody in action. The guy that plays Vision is a trip, exactly how I woulda cast him though (I'm a big comic reader) so I think they nailed. Maaaan, I could talk about this more too. lol

When Parker asked Stark if there would be any money involved I knew they got it right.
Also the theater I was at Black Panther and Spider-Man both got the Road Warrior pop when they appeared in costume.

Paul Rudd was amazing in the short amount of time he had and to me was the best part of the movie.
Spidey was great as well. I always liked Tobey but Tom and Marvel nailed the character.
Panther was cool but seeing him so revenge driven and closed minded made him come off like a huge jerk and idiot IMO. Yes his dad died but it was hard to like the character when he did have a change of heart after everything he previously did.
I loved the movie but going in I knew Tony and Ross' view would be so wrong. It's not like the Avengers made Loki attack NY or SHIELD was really Hydra. They didn't make Crossbones go after the bio-weapon. The only thing they can be blamed for is Ultron and that is on Tony and not the Avengers as a whole per-say. They prevented ALOT more deaths and that was the one gripe I had with the movie.

Just saw it, and I really liked it. The fight scenes were done well, I thought the whole "Winter Soldier was the one who killed Tony's parents" thing was kinda dumb but that was really the only thing I can find that I didn't love about it.

I see where you're coming from, but I think they were working with what they had. Since the setup wasn't the same as in the comic, they had to create a reason. Maybe that was a bit rushed or forced or whatever you want to say, but I think they did the best with what they had to work with. It was a better to reason to fight than Batman and Superman had...and it was still a better love story than Twilight.

Just saw the film a few hours ago and it's just amazing! By far my favorite Marvel film ever. The best part for me was Giant Man and then Spider-Man.

Batman vs Superman was a joke. I agree 100% this was better than the crappy reason Snyder gave us. However, I felt that they could have presented Tony's side better. They showed him being remourseful over the Sakovia incident and they could have simply used that as a reason why the Avengers need to have directors above them. He could have argued that since SHIELD fell, and specifically since Fury has been gone, that things have been out of control. By brining in the NY incident and SHIELD being Hydra as the Avengers fault, it's like saying a firefighter saving 8 out of 9 lives is at fault for not saving everyone.

Feel the exact same way as cordless. Brought that up in the other thread. Tony was mad at himself. Literally, he was upset with his own actions and was calling everyone else irresponsible because of said guilt. It was a very thin excuse when we're, I assume, dealing with a sober Tony Stark. The end with his parents and his inability to see the difference between Bucky and the Winter Solider was far more believable for me. Iron Man was extremely easy to not like and root against imo, which I guess was maybe the point, but the external motivators and his reaction to them were pretty questionable. Definitely NOT "Martha" questionable though haha.
Also, I liked that they kind of extended off the post credits scene from The Incredible Hulk, but wouldn't Stark know Banner's history with Ross? So wouldn't he know Ross is kind of a military maniac? Which goes against Tony's character development from the first two Iron Man films. This is all, very much, nitpicking, but I thought it was almost comical we got mad man Tony Stark at times.
The airport hanger scene was everything I wanted out of this though. That and Cap and Bucky vs Stark at the end. Like just absolutely amazing fight scenes. So cool to see all of those dynamics work so well together in one scene.

Saw it twice already and I really enjoyed the film. The only things I didn't care for:
Spiderman and his constant amazement that he was fighting. I guess they got Parker right, he was annoying though, and although I dig that he was a part of the movie, his jokes and whatnot almost every single time got a little stale. I don't mind that he did it at first, but after a couple just start kicking more ass and stop being annoying.
It took Capt. and Bucky a LONG time to get to Siberia. So long that Falcon, Ant-man, Wanda, and idiot Hawkeye (come on. who really likes him??!" were able to get arrested and sent to the Raft prison. Rhodes was able to get to the hospital and get scanned and find out exactly what's wrong with him, and Stark was able to fly to the prison and then meet up with Capt. and Bucky right after they made it to the lab where the other winter soldiers were. I would like to have seen how "Team Capt." were arrested. Why would they let themselves? Falcon could just fly away, Wanda could use her powers, Ant-Man could just shrink and hide and Hawkeye...well he could just sit there and cry. Don't get me wrong, the whole fight scene was great but I guess I'm nitpicking.
Black Panther. Awwwww, he's a kitty cat and he can scratch you!! (I just say this because my gf loved him the best, he was cool but come on, he's a kitty.)
I agree. Crossroads was awesome and I wanted to see more of him.
Oh yeah...I don't like The Vision either. Looked like a jackass wearing regular clothing.
Ant-Man screaming "something flew inside of me!" was very funny.
On a scale of 1 to 10. I give this movie an 7.

I really enjoyed the movie and since I don't read the comics at all, I don't have anything to compare it to. I thought Black Panther was a pretty dope character. I helped my brother-in-law pick up his Marvel Legends figure before I saw the movie and now I wish I would've kept it for myself. Crossbones seemed like an interesting character, just wished they showed a bit more of him.

Guess I'll just ask in here since it's specifically centered around Civil War, is this movie worth watching just for Spider-Man? I've barely seen any Marvel movies (I've seen Iron-Man [loved it], Avengers [loved it] & Avengers 2 [hated it]) and I'm pretty much only interested in this to see Spider-Man. Not that I assume the rest is bad but if I need to have watched the last two Captain America movies to see it than I'm not so sure I want to bother (I've the Captain America movies are good & don't really doubt it, I just don't have much interest in catching up on them).

Yes. Spidey is awesome. You don't necessarily have to watch either Captain America movie to see Civil War, but without it, you may get somewhat lost on stuff regarding Bucky/Winter Soldier.

Spider-Man was incredible. Most faithful adaptation of the character we've had.

Thought it was amazing. I used to think Captain America was the lamest Avenger but when Winter Soldier came out and he had a new outfit and it showed how badass he could be, he really grew on me. Not to mention it's an overall great movie and my second favorite now behind Civil War. I really enjoyed Daniel Bruhl even though the entire time I was trying to figure out what he was from and when I got home I saw he was from Inglorious Bastards! Like others, Paul Rudd was the highlight for me. The few lines he had were amazingly executed. Ant-Man is my 3rd favorite Marvel movie. Black Panther was extremely badass but I simply couldn't root for him. I know crossbones is supposed to kill Cap and of course they weren't going to do that but I do wish he didn't die in this movie, I was really excited to see him in this and then really disappointed that he dies like 20 minutes in. One of my favorite parts was Hawkeye going up against Vision. It's incredibly stupid but when you think about it, it showed how dedicated Hawkeye was to Cap to stand up to a guy who could most likely turn Hawkeye to dust if he truly wanted.

I saw Civil war this past Saturday. I love Civil War. It's amazing. Tom Holland is the best spider man ever. I'm so excited for Homecoming. Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther is also amazing. Giant Man was amazing. Everything was AMAZING. I honestly think that this is the GREATEST SUPER HERO FILM OF ALL TIME. I prefer it to The Dark Knight. This movie is just too good. Cannot wait to see what hapoenes to Bucky next after he went into cryosleep at T'Challa's palace. I really feel bad for the character of Bucky. He's been through so much. In my opinion, his story is the most compelling out of all of the subplots in the film.
Also-
Spider Man got a MASSIVE pop Giant Man got a HUGE pop Black Panther got a fairly sizeable pop There was also a pretty big pop during the Bucky/Cap Vs. Stark fight at the end. Standing ovation at the end of the movie.
