My bad, in England, that's what we call a sandwich. Honestly neither name makes much sense. There's no sand in a sandwich nor is there any butt (unless you enjoy pork butt sandwiches/buttys I guess). I always thought this was an old wives tale, but I got it from Wikipedia so who knows:

I think the single most important thing we should all be informed about in this thread is that only weirdy beardy wildling northerners call sandwiches a 'butty' in the UK. Us civilised people south of the wall stick to the proper names
