Okay, so a little back story to start this off would be that I'm currently serving an 8 year military contract and I'll be 24 when I get out, I have about a year and a half left as of right now.
Like many other life long fans I've wanted nothing more than to be an entertainer in the squared circle whether it's in Canada, Japan, TNA or even one day WWE. My only problem is I have no idea where to go to train.
I'm from Illinois. I'm 2 hours from Chicago and 5 minutes from where Seth Rollins lives in Davenport, Iowa. With that being said where would I go to find the best school to train? I wrestled in high school for a couple years, nothing too exciting just for fun. I know there's a school just above me through Michigan to the Canadian/US border but then there's Florida where countless big named pro wrestling schools are located. I don't have a lot of money and to be honest I'm not looking to make any from the training either. I just want to learn so with all that taken into account, where would you go to train if you could? Or where have you or someone you know been trained? What is the best school for my situation and why?
Thanks in advance for any advice and stories of your own trials and errors in the business.

I'm currently in the process of deciding what wrestling school to go to as well. I'm stuck between Rollins' school, Booker's school, and Lance Storm's school.
I'm also considering joining the Marines then going to wrestling school afterward.

I'd love to be trained at Booker's if I could. It sounds like it's a pretty great place.

I knew he trained at our QC crossfit but Ive never actually been in to see that they're a partner of his. I think my choice just got a lot easier, and it's only $3500.

Just because it is a big name school doesn't always mean the best. Try and make some appointments and ask if you can sit in on a class and see what it's about. Also see if the school runs their own shows. I used to train with AJ Lee and it was a smaller school. Great place though

Hey Focalin your school was pretty good and you're getting some pretty decent exposure outside of Pittsburgh. Something you'd recommend to a non local dude assuming he'd be willing to check out down here?

From what I've heard on podcast Books wrestling school is top notch, not only the training but he also put on shows that run on local access. If I would to pull the trigger on wrestling college it would be Booker.
Lances wrestling academy and the Dudleys school in Kissmmee,FL is also very good.

Booker's wrestling school is probably the best you can get. It was originally supposed to be the new Performance Center so he bought a ton of expensive equipment, but they said they were going to Florida at the last second.

I have tremendous respect for anybody that can commit to even attempting training to become a wrestler.

I'd go small, but find someone that knows what they're doing. Don't join some small town local indy fed that's ran by someone who doesn't know a thing about how to actually train someone. Search around, talk to a few people. I'm sure around the Chicago area you can find somebody who has actual experience.

Depending on where you want to train I can recommend a number of schools. If you're in Chicago, HIGHLY suggest training with Bryce Benjamin with UGW.

-- As an alum, I recommend Dan Severn's camp in Coldwater, MI. I don't know what he charges now days, but when I went 10yrs ago, it was $100/down and $75 each month after. Plus he's got a dorm you can stay at for $250/mo (electricity, restrooms/showers, kitchen/dining area, and 24hr access throughout the gym). If I didn't have to retire from health issues, I would've gone back and trained more until I would've graduated.

That was enough to pay for 6 months there. For food and stuff, I had a few jobs in Coldwater there. Mr. Severn himself would either take me to work or pick me up from work if I needed the ride (even lent me his steel toe boots that fit perfect, for one of the jobs). The facility is within walking distance to Main St., where a lot of businesses are that I'm sure are always looking for PT work.

But I credit all my knowledge to Severn (and Josh Raymond -WSX/ROH-, who was a trainer there at that time after Jimmy Jacobs left), for getting me that far. Other of his students who did make it are Christian Able (who unfortunately passed last month) in ROH, CJ Otis in ROH & AJPW, Monty Brown in TNA & WWECW, Louis Lynden & Flip Kendrick in Dragon Gate USA, and just about all his other students who stuck with it, have had no trouble getting bookings.
