Thats because Mattel and many other companies use a cheaper plastic for higher profits. It seems like anything that is moved in the joints from E1-E8 breaks. So, these figures won't be around in another 10 years. I have Original Star Wars figures that have paintbthat isn't sticky, yet E1 Taker's legs have a ressidue coming from his legs. MVP headband, Cena's armbands, and the Nexus armbands have all split appart, just from sitting where they are supposed to be displayed on the figure. Long term QC issues like this have kept me as only a High-End buyer. Hot Toys, Sideshow, Mezco's One:12 is my focus now. They have had issues in the past, but nothing since the DX 11 Batman. 4 years ago. I don't know what you do to figures, but none of my early Elites have a residue on them. Some of the paint has a tacky feeling to them. Similar to what toys fron the 80's have from aging.

Same with my Joe being super loose, but hopefully it last the test of time. My Kofi Shin's were on backwards as well, nothing hot water didn't fix.

QC is definitely decreasing, sadly. I love the Mattel figures but there is no question that this is becoming more and more of an issue between loose joints and paint issues. Pretty ridiculous considering how expensive these figures are.

I got my Joe yesterday, black smudges on face (that I was able to get off thankfully) & a loose left wrist just like everyone else.

Who cares glue it on. I'd be more concerned about the apparent blob on the end of his eyebrow. Yeah man spend your hard earnt cash on a figure only having to glue it back together. No sweat. What's the matter with you

Left hand on mine is loose as well. No paint smudges thankfully though.

Samoa Joe just arrived.. visible red and black scratches on the torso. I'm timid to even open it to find loose pieces, but if everyone is having the same issues, what's the point of exchanging?
Also, I'm disagreeing with the idea of "fixing" new figures. I bought it with the idea that was a finished product, as opposed to a product i needed to finish. I wouldn't buy a new car if it came with scratches and they axels needed to be replaced :/
(as a long time lurker, I am completely aware someone will find a way to disagree with me and insult me lol)

Overall I'm not pleased with the design of figure. Of course there's always the stuck feet joints or stuck shoulder joints. But what I hate is when the design of figure hinders the figures articulation. The hip joints barely let you lift the leg up. Not even a 45 degree angle. And the knee joints blocked off by the back of shorts. Just small things like that ruin figures playability for me. I don't display. I pose them in the ring but I play with all my figures. And articulation is key.

Sorry to hear that. Luckily, mine's perfect. Very pleased with how this figure turned out.

My Joes left hand is very loose. And his left leg too joint does not move.
Luckily I display figures loose without much posing so it not a big issue for me.

I've certainly see a rise in the number of QC issues recently. Mostly with the pain apps, I see a ton of figures with really bad paint blotches. In stores you can just pass them by, but I got burned on my last order from RSC ( not their fault at all) I ordered the elite neville and it had some purple markings on his leg. I tried to get rid of it, and of course the legs were casted in black and the skin was painted on, needles to say my Neville went from trunks to long tights. It makes me wearying of buying online now cause you don't know what you'll get. Within the same week I bought the Ladder match HBK, everything was fine, til I noticed a tightness with his arm not going all the way up, after forcing it a little, the rubber gaurd that keeps the arm in the housing came loose, which made his arm very flimsy. Thankfully I was able to do crack the toros and replace the shoulder. However I shouldn't have to go through all that trouble with a figure fresh out of the box.
The ball joint hips seem to be a godsend for a bit, as the ratchet lets were and in some cases still problematic. Yet about 50% of the figures I get seem have really loose legs (Razor, DM Hogan, X-Pac)
However over the past 5 years most of my collection has held up, with only about 8 instances out of a couple hundred figures either just breaking or having some sort of issue.

Who cares glue it on. I'd be more concerned about the apparent blob on the end of his eyebrow. he obviously cares and he clearly doesnt want to super glue it back on immobilizing it.

Got my Joe today and the paint apps and literally everything are perfect but I too have the loose left wrist. I will say though that mine is pretty darn loose but not enough to be concerned about breakage.

Just replace the hinge joint inside the hand with one that is a little bigger.

I love the whole "You have a problem with your figure? Deal with it!" mentality.
I've collected Mattel's since Elite 1, and I don't remember anything having paint or major joint issues until a year or so ago, other than maybe 1 or 2 out of my hundreds of figures.
Now it's like the luck of the draw, especially ordering online.
Anywho, my Joe came yesterday. No paint botches from what I can tell. I'm debating on whether to keep him MOC, but if I open him, I'll let ya know.

I agree sometimes things slip through and QC issues happen, but for the last 4 orders that have I have gotten to have some sort of quality issue with each...just screams that the quality of product Mattel is putting out there is seriously declining. I seriously doubt I just got that lucky all in a row like that
