I seriously have to ask. If it was one of your favourites who was in this current position would you all be ripping them to shreads? What RVD did in 2006 was worse. After 5 years he finally won the world title and then a few weeks later he gets busted with drugs by the police. Now by doing so he let fans down who had supported him for years and he ruined his only chance of holding the belt. I don't remember fans hating him for comitting that foolish act. People were pretty furious at Van Dam. I know a lot of people viewed him differently after that, and were in support of WWE basically pulling the plug on his push.

I don't remember fans hating him for comitting that foolish act. 2006 was during my "hiatus", so to speak, from watching, so I can't speak to that. However, as someone who isn't an expressed fan of Roman's, but doesn't harbor a hatred of him fueled by the fiery passion of a thousand suns either, I'm disappointed in him. Largely, aside from a few bad apples, I feel like we're in an era of more conscious and self aware performers in the WWE. I feel like a number of factors - the breakdown of kayfabe, a larger focus on the inherent health risks of the business, etc - have led to the athletes generally being more conscious of not only what goes into their bodies, but the resonant effects that something like this would have, beyond the personal health impact. This guy had it all. To disregard the nightly performances and appearances and such, to boil his "deal" down, so long as he continued to show up, play nice, and look imposing, Vince was not going to budge on him. We've spent two years watching that be made bright and clear. He was on the elevator headed straight to the top, stop here for he untouchable floor. I'm not trying to discount the toll that this industry takes on the performers. I don't doubt there are pressures to maintain an imposing look (and to be fair, I never felt he looked "juiced"). I don't doubt stepping out in front on thousand fans who'll tear you to shreds in spite of being told out back that you're "the guy" is a serious mind f*ck, but literally - all you had to do was NOT what you did. I don't wish any ill will to him over this - I'm a fan, not a savage. I don't wish a sort of Steiner Decliner on anyone. I'm just....disappointed. Hell of a thing, man.

From what I recall, people were pissed at RVD. RVD did something stupid, just like Reigns. Hell, if it was one of my favorites in Roman's position, I'd be even more furious. I would hate to see one of my favorites make a dumb move that could potentially cost him.

Im not a Reigns hater but I can imagine how stressful it has been for him since he's been carrying the company. And as far as the wellness policy goes I think its complete bullcrap. There was a time when Wrestling was great without it. Yeah, and now the people from those great times are dead and dying way to young because of the stupid crap they did. If you need steroids and coke or any other banned substance to be great, you probably aren't that great.

Let us not forget that Titus O'Neil was suspended for 60 (down from 90) days for being playful.
This guy gets 30, and its held off so he can continue his feud and have it set up properly so that it doesn't effect his story line much.
Boooo, I'm still a fan of this company, but boooooo.

There was a time when Wrestling was great without it. Yeah and at that time we had plenty of wrestlers die from drug/health problems. So... I'd rather have a talent miss a month or two than die from a drug overdose. But maybe that's just me? Clearly your view is different from mine. Wrestlers and everyone for that matter should have free will to do what they want to themselves on their own time. Reigns has been actively doing his job regardless of the policy being in place or not. And with all the hate in these threads I doubt most of you truly care for the well being of these wrestlers.

TNA did that with Jeff Hardy, and look what happened. He showed up to work high as a kite and had one of the worst matches in wrestling history. Not only did he do that at Victory Road against Sting, but he did the same thing at Wrestle Kingdom 5 and single-handedly cost TNA their working relationship with New Japan. Allowing wrestlers to be able to do however many drugs they wanted in their spare time would be an awful decision.

This has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. There are plenty of things to complain about when it comes to WWE. Them taking care of their talent isn't one of them. Look at how drastically the number of premature deaths has dropped since the WP started. That stat alone proves that it's working. Going by your logic, McDonald's shouldn't care that Tony is a child molester, as long as he leaves it at home. That's just dumb. WWE is a publicly traded company. Their talent is expected to uphold certain standards in and out of the ring. And that's the way it should be. I know if I hire a carpenter, I don't want him showing up drunk or high.

I have to disagree. Surely Reigns is doing his job but drugs can ruin peoples lives. Punishing him lets him see that his job is on the line unless he sorts himself out so basically the wellness policy is a blessing in disguise. They let Shawn Michaels do what he wanted in the 90's and he was a huge mess. If he never suffered that back injury he may have possibly killed himself.
