Pick who you think is the single best nba player of all time.
Imo the best ever is Jordan by far. His accomplishments speak for themselves.

I voted for LeBron, though I acknowledge I'm likely to be in the extreme minority. While I won't argue that Jordan had the better career through each guy's first 13 seasons (Jordan played a total of 15), I don't think his overall game is as versatile or efficient as LeBron's. Jordan is the best clutch shooter ever (with Larry Bird 2nd and Dirk Nowitzki 3rd IMO) and was a better perimeter/isolation player in general, but other than that I think LeBron is superior as a defender, passer, rebounder, and as a teammate.
Also worth acknowledging that while Jordan went 6-0 in the Finals (with six MVPs, all deserved or not), he also missed the playoffs twice and lost in the first round three times. LeBron missed the playoffs once (his rookie season) and has never lost in the first round. Also worth noting that when Jordan retired for the first time, his championship Bulls, winners of 57 games in the 92-93 season, still won 55 games the next year without him.
I think this discussion is very worthy and much closer than most people care to admit. I personally easily tire of the idol worship bestowed upon Jordan, but I understand it. I think 25 years from now the consensus will be in favor of LeBron after we've had ample time to reflect on his career.

Really? Michael Jordan and LeBron are the only choices? Jordan by a mile; 6 titles in 6 Finals appearances, 6 Finals MVPs.
Others that should be on the list above LeBron; Bill Russel - 11 Championships in 13 years. Larry Bird - Maybe the best pure shooter ever, who stayed with his team while they gelled and earned it. He didn't leave to where the grass was greener. 3 Championships. Magic Johnson - Replaced Kareem in the Finals of his rookie year, scored 42 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and won the championship + finals MVP. (at 20 years old). Kobe Bryant - I don't even like Kobe, never did. But I would put Kobe above LeBron. He won with Shaq, then rebuilt with Gasol and Andrew Bynum and won again. 5 Championships. Tim Duncan - 5 Championships, played all of his career for the Spurs. 15 time all-star, 15 time all-NBA, 3 Finals MVPs.
I think people give LeBron way too much credit. Maybe he is top 10, but best of all time? No way...

"Best" is a matter of opinion. My favorite? Reggie Miller.

Jordan....end the thread. Lebron is great. Wilt was great. Magic was great. Bird was great. None are Jordan.

Not trying to start anything, but of the 11 voters so far, I wonder how many watched at least 10 NBA games this year. I would assume less than half.

I think 25 years from now the consensus will be in favor of LeBron after we've had ample time to reflect on his career. LeBron also missed the playoffs his second season as well. But I get what you're saying. I tend to agree with your view on people's idolatry of Jordan. It's actually refreshing to hear someone open to the idea that Jordan maybe isn't the greatest ever and there's no question about it no matter what anyone does ever. That being said, I do think it's completely fair to pick Jordan as the greatest ever. However, I don't think the disparity between him and players like Kobe and LeBron is ocean-wide like everyone makes it out to be. It's a very fair discussion imo.

Sorry but this thread is pretty funny. I guess it's good, that u have MJ. But to have only LeBron as the other choice is just crazy.
U would have to list at least 10-12, and while LeBron should be on that list, it is not simply a discussion between MJ and LBJ.
And the person who mentioned A.I in this conversation - sorry but have u ever watched basketball before? Joking!
My list would go something like this.
1. Jordan 2. Wilt 3. Magic 4. Kobe 5. Lebron 6. Bird 7. Big O 8. Russell 9. Hakeem 10. Shaq
U could put another 10 names on this list and take all of mine out (except MJ) and ur list would be as good as mine. And this is why MJ is the greatest. Because he is in everyone's top 3, if not top 2.
MJ is the greatest baskeballer of all time. He is in the conversation for the greatest athlete of all time.

Has anybody proved they are better than Jordan?
I don't think so
Post Jordan era there are only to names that come close
Kobe LeBron
In that order
LeBron is has been my favorite player since 03 and the cavs were my family's team before I was even born but he isn't better then Kobe and I hate the Lakers
It's really isnt even fair to put LeBron in the discussion until he retires and we see what his legacy ends up being
