I picked up the basic surfer Sting and am kind of appalled by how short he is. Anyone who has both this figure and the DM who can tell me if the DM is the correct height?

I recently purchased B62 Sting too and noticed the height immediately. Does anyone know why Mattel chose to go the route they did with its scale? I assumed they just used Steamboat's mold for it.

he's as tall as the other (crow) sting figures. I don't have the defining moments american flag sting, but maybe he is the anomaly (too tall?)

It was something I had commented on with pics when I compared Starrcade 97 DM to B55 and GAB Sting to B62 Starrcade '90 Sting. All the Elite Style match up but the three basics are all shorter. E39 and the bP match up.  Forget the hair because the GAB figure has a high spiked hair style. But the eye, nose, shoulders all match up between the two DM.     |

This just seems like normal stuff from Mattel. Finally picked up legion of doom elites on the secondary market and they are way more in scale than the battle pack. Animal and Hawk are the same size in the battle pack but Hawk is taller than Animal in the elite form. Still doesn't excuse there being two different sizes of sting. I've told myself that surfer sting will get taller once he hits puberty

I googled and hawk is 6'4 animal is 6'3 and sting is 6'2 |

So I just set the elite animal/hawk/and basic sting next to one another and they look perfectly in scale for billed height. I agree with PJ (he is the expert) and I will say that DM stings are just freakishly tall. Almost behemoth like. So, everyone is upset about how short basic sting is...I am upset about how tall GAB sting is! Lol

Hawk was billed as 6'3" Sting and Animal were billed at 6'2" put the GAB Sting net to the LOD figures and he is the same height as Hawk (including Sting's 2" tall flattop) and with Animal their shoulders, noses and eyes are in alignment. So the GAB figure is the right height , but just to thick in the torso. I don't know where they came up with the road warriors billed height from because Hawk was a good two inches taller than Animal. So if Hawk was 6'3" than Animal was 6'1" at best. I think Mattel got them pretty close. If you flatten out Sting's hair he is shorter than Hawk and about the same height as Animal.  |

Disappointing to hear the the green surfer Sting is so short. I have it on the way and now I'm not sure if I will even remove it from the package. I'm not a MOC collector, but in this case I might to make an exception. They will really annoy me to have him so short while displayed.
This is one of the reason I do shy away from buying Basics. The green Basic Warrior is too tall and I won't display him either.

For me height issues are meh, I prefer things like key accessories and colours more. When playing height isn't really an issue for me, the only time height is an issue for me is when say your displaying Sting next to another Sting as it's very noticeable, but if he's next to say Big Show or Kahli or Andre it isn't too bad imo.

Finally received my green Sting and despite it looking great I just can't display it. Just way too short. Now that I have it in hand it looks so odd with such short legs. I can't believe I didn't notice it in other pics. I wouldn't of even bought it if I had. No more basics for me.

I put Basic 18 Cody Rhodes' boots on basic Surfer Sting to give him a tiny boost. IMO the figure is better with the black boots and somehow they don't make him look as much like an angry albino hobbit, even though he's barely any taller.
