Kalisto is at a way higher level than Rey was when he was Kalisto's age. Just saying. Its possible but its all up to the machine. Haha what? Kalisto is 29. What are you talking about? Rey was 29 in 2003. So his entire time in AAA, ECW and WCW had already happened. He was a 5 time cruiserweight champion by the time he was Kalisto's age. Which includes the 3 5 Star matches he had already had, all of his feuds with Malenko, Guerrero and Juvi in WCW and his tag run with Kidman and most certainly his tag match from No Mercy 02. Kalisto is about to be 30 year's old and the most notable match of his career is against Ryback. He doesn't belong in the same breath as Rey Mysterio.

I always hate that next insert superstar here crapnuff said. Nobody is never gonna be as big as Rey Mysterio and masked guys that came before Rey.

Kalisto will never have that connection like Rey did with the fans like when Rey won his first World Title everyone was happy for him. Every time he had another title match people were hoping he would capture a second. Kalisto will not be able to do that. But where they? I thought everyone excluding kids were unhappy when Rey first won the title because of how Eddie's death was used.

The problem with Kalisto is that he tries WAY too hard to be Rey, Which is making him look generic and second rate all the time. There is nothing appealing about him on his own. He is just a generic attempt to replicate what Rey was.

I don't understand why people are saying there is a cruiserweight division on Raw? Is this official?

You never know, he could do a bunch of steroids and get a brief World title run.

Who are you to doubt El Kalisto? This is the only acceptable reply in this thread. By the way, this is still the GOAT of promos. Kalisto is a real jam up guy.

Not unless the WWE can find a way to push Kalisto as sympathy for Eddie Guerrero dying.

Not unless the WWE can find a way to push Kalisto as sympathy for Eddie Guerrero dying. Lawler: Hey John apparently Kalisto had a friend who knew someone that had a friend that met someone that had a friend who dated Eddie Guerrero before he married Vicki! JBL: Nobody could have been as close as these two were Maggle!

No. Zero chance. Mysterio is a bonified legend. In the United States he will forever be viewed as the face of Lucha Libre, and he's definitely among the most recognizable in Mexico as well, I'd say easily top 20 of all time, maybe even top 10. Rey was a trailblazer, and at his best he was 50x better than Kalisto could ever be. It doesn't help that it's quite difficult to reach legendary status these days. The business is so diluted that guys are more expendable than ever.
That and Kalisto really isn't anything special. With all else being the same I'd say Neville has a better chance of being remembered than Kalisto, and as much as I love Neville, HE will only be remembered as another guy in the mid 2010s. As far as Mexico, both Del Rio and Sin Cara are huge stars whereas Kalisto is nothing. He will never make the same galaxy as Rey.

Lol you basically sugar coated that Rey was a lower card, not even mid card WCW talent. Yes he had great matches, better matches than Kalisto by far. But im talking pure pecking order. Kalisto has already been US Champ, and competed in a WWE championship tourney. Rey hadnt had anything other than tag and cruiser belts by 2003. Didnt even sniff a world title until 3 years later. Im not saying Kalisto is better than Rey. He didnt become a huge star until he came to WWE.
