For those who held out and didn't start collecting until later in the line, was there a figure that stood out and made you think "I gotta have that!"
It was E25 Bruno Sammartino for me. I'm not even a big fan of Bruno, but I just remember being stunned that Mattel was releasing a Bruno figure and knew I had to pick it up. I've built two collections since then that I've mostly sold off, but I hung on to Bruno, Luger, E28 Crush and E30 Road Warriors for some reason because those were my first hand full of elite flashbacks that I bought new.

When it comes to Mattel it was Defining Moments Bret Hart. Still in my top 5 and one of the few figures I have doubles of.

I actually started late in Mattel line, had no intention of buying any at all. I saw the CM PUNK t shirt figure at wal mart 2 year ago right after he left wwe and thought it would be the last one they would make so I grabbed it and got hooked ever since

Elite 17 Cena. Loved the camo shorts and headscan. Rise Above Hate shirt also pretty iconic IMO. I loved the detail, and it sold me on Elites. I had previously just bought an Elite Sheamus to "test" since I had a bad taste in my mouth from Jakks. The other thing that made me want to collect full time, and it wasn't related to one figure, it was the collective whole since Mattel got the line. If you play with figures, you'll quickly see a TON of dream matches WWE can't ever do or won't do, just by looking at the figures released since the launch to now. I mean, even if you don't play with figures -- having a wide range of superstars on display is pretty damn cool. While Mattel has it's quirks, I hope they don't lose the license for a long, long time. It'll take FOREVER for another company to get this big of assortment out again lol. And even when I feel like I'm spending too much $$$ on figs and need a break, I see protos of Elite AJ and Elite Nakamura If I wasn't a collector yet, I would be for those figs, Joe and Balor.

For Mattel it has to be E12 Kane; I stupidly sold it for $35 on Ebay a week later after buying it. I regret that today, because I don't own one.

Probably like some John Cena as a kid I wanna say E22 Rock as a Collector For me it was a Jakks RA Undertaker as a kid and B16 Undertaker as a collector. Taker is my second favourite wrestler of all time after Edge.

Taker is my second favourite wrestler of all time after Edge. i was always collecting but I didn't buy often. I remember being on the phone with my mom at Walmart and I didn't want E7 HHH and HBK cause they didn't have Swoggle. Shoulda got HBK or at least HHH damn

With Mattel, it was L3 Perfect.
In general, it was some WCW figures I probably got bought for me as a little kid in 1998/1999.

for Mattel....it was RSC Macho King.
i hadn't collected wrestling figures since the BCA era. I used this site because ppl on wrestling game forums said there was a good attire reference database on one of these boards.
so on one occasion i was browsing the boards looking for something to make a CAW in smackdown vs raw 2010....and i seen Macho king for sale.
So i bought it

Mattel from the start.
Movie Optimis Prime got me started in 2007, and then I belatedly discovered classic superstars on a US holiday. CS1 Ultimate Warrior was bought, and 7-8 years later I had 3000 figs!!! Downsizing now.
