Ok guys I've got a question. The undertaker returned at judgement day 2000 and we all know what went down etc..so he used the tombstone when doing the interference and then as he proceed to leave the ring he did the roll his eyes in the back of his head. Now it seemed like after that he no longer did any of that "deadman" stuff.
Do you think they just said you know what drop all that and just be full bad ass? Was it his decision or management, anyone ever heard any rumors on the situation?
I mean Ive even heard they dropped Paul bearer with Kane bc they didn't want taker and bearer together with this gimmick.

Wasn't Taker out with an injury or something and returned as the American Bad Ass?

Before Taker left in September of 99 with his injury situations and getting time off, he was coming out dressed like the American Bad Ass to a point. The whole 'Satan' Undertaker gimmick he had going with the Ministry of Darkness was over with, and it was just Taker, Big Show and Paul Bearer as a unit.
But I think Taker at times rolled his eyes back in his head while being the American Bad Ass. I don't think he dropped doing that all together.

I thought the gimmick would have been much better had he incorporated more of the Deadman stuff. Like a "demon biker" kind of vibe with the flowing leather jacket, etc. When he just went to being the ABA he just sounded like a redneck to me and it was a very jarring change. I wasn't a fan of the first ABA phase

At mid 1999 Taker started dressing in street gear which was something he never did before so he was slowly changing character.
I never liked the gimmick myself because it basically trashed The Undertaker and made him look fake. Why would an undead zombie who was the Lord of darkness start to act like a normal married guy?

Like I said some where else, Paul gave him some really intense drugs and Taker started acting like a deadman. After he went to rehab he was normal again. Until Survivor series 2003 ofc.

I wasn't a fan of the American Bad Ass gimmick. I pretty much hated it.

I wonder how much of that was Russo though. Vince even called him 'mark' a few times.

I didn't hate the ABA stuff(he had too many great matches as the Biker) but when Brock beat him in the cell? that should have been the end of it. He shouldn't have returned from the layoff as The Biker

I remember too much in ring greatness from him during this phase to hate on it...
6 Man HIAC vs HHH @ WM17 Heel turn and great matches with Flair, RVD & Hardy Vengeance 02 vs Angle & Rock HIAC vs Brock
I also really liked his promo style then.

Undertaker probably changed it up because he decided it was time to reinvent himself. I was never a big fan of biker Taker nor "Big Evil" Taker. Hell, I started watching wrestling when I was little, so my favorite versions of Undertaker are still his early versions with the purple/grey gloves.
