I have to say one of the best things about going back and watching a lot of the old WCW ppv's from the 80s and early 90s is some of the reactions that you can see on the faces of people in the front row. Its particularly entertaining when its old women in the front row that really get into it and genuinely seem to believe what they are seeing, its brilliant and something you dont see anymore. I was watching WCW Slamboree and these 3 oldish ladies are in the front row, its worth watching this ppv for their reactions in the rick rude/orndoff tag match when Rude does his classic hip pose, one of the old women shakes her head and waves her hand in disgust lol. I really miss the old days in wrestling, just brilliant.

That was back when wrestling fans were just that.... fans.
Now they are all out to either get themselves over, or try to direct how the match should go, or cheer the name of a wrestler they want to see constantly, or just constantly complain about the product while the entire time still watching the product.
Wrestling was just very simple back in the 80s and 90s. Even ECW fans in Philly - for being so smart to the business - still let their guard down at times to be surprised and have a real reaction to what they were seeing. I miss those days.

Just on the topic of Slamboree 93 as a PPV event that year, I have to say it was pretty good!
The Windham/Anderson match for the NWA Title was bloody and brutal. Much like so many NWA Title matches years prior. The only thing I didn't like was that the British Bulldog didn't win the WCW Title off of Vader. I always felt that Bulldog deserved a WCW Title reign, even if it was for a month.

"Hey everyone, look at me...I know things! So I'm going to yell them at the top of my lungs to show everyone that I know things, and show everyone just how smart I am." - the modern Wrestling audience.

It was a good event and was probably one that gave WWF the idea of doing something with the legends. I got the VHS at Suncoast in 1993 or 1994 and was glad to watch it but of course, WCW cuts a few matches and segments so I didn't get to see everything. I know Sting was on his way to becoming an icon and major player in WCW (or may have already been). I know he faced Vader, Cactus Jack and other big names but for me, as a WWF fan, it was his match against "Nailz/Prisoner" that really made me take note of him. I was a kid and thought WWF was the better league so when Sting beat the former Nailz I KNEW Sting would be big!

I enjoyed the card ,and the concept, of Slamboree(i enjoyed the 94 installment as well). Although its in no way likely , I'd like to see WWE have an annual one off show with a couple matches featuring older/retired guys. As for this card, i really enjoyed Arn vs Windham for the NWA title. Davey and Vader had a pretty decent bout for the WCW title as well. Of course the Blondes vs Steamboat and "not Douglas" Tom Zenk was solid too. I was surprised we didn't see more of Nailz or the Prisoner,or the Convict ,whatever he was billed as after this appearance.
