New WWE Universal champion Finn Balor was injured during his Summerslam match against Seth Rollins, PWInsider.com has confirmed.
Sources indicate that Balor was sporting his right arm in a sling following the PPV. There is concern the injury is serious and could require surgery.
In watching back the bout, Balor was grabbing briefly at his right shoulder after being nailed with a small package driver and did not raise the arm (which was holding the Universal championship) after the match.
We are told Balor will be getting examined tomorrow and once WWE has a determination on exactly how serious the injury is, they will go from there. More as we get it.
Balor is slated to appear on Good Morning America tomorrow at 8 AM Eastern.

He also used his arm as a way to land the buckle bomb on the barricade. That landing didn't look good. I kind of feel like that caused it. That he kept working. It wasn't the same after that spot. I'm not a big fan, but  ing I'm so sick of people getting hurt, and I'd much rather he be number 1 over the few they got |

Maybe it's time for Seth to put away that power bomb. It's a pretty dangerous spot. Sting didn't take it right and ended his career. Last night Seth was way too far away when he launched Balor causing the weird landing.

The Universal title is off to a great start. First it becomes the first ever belt to get so much heat it gets booed out of the building. And now its first champion could be in jeopardy of going on the shelf immediately after being crowned. Not the shot in the arm that a newly created "world" title needs. I hope Balor is ok and whatever his injuries are can be rehabbed with a few weeks off. I was thrilled to see him get that main roster push out of the gate. As for the Universal championship itself.......well, this is yet another reason why WWE shouldn't be trying to reinvent the wheel and just should've brought back the WHC. Only my opinion, but thats where it lies right now.

For all the crap some gave Bret Hart for harping on Rollins, the man seems to have a point. He injured Cena, retired Sting, and may have now dethroned Balor. When D-Lo ended Droz's career, I'm 99% sure he retired the Running Liger Bomb. RETIRE THAT FREAKING POWERBOMB. It's too damn risky.
"Redesign. Rebuild. Reclaim." - Slogan actually applies to Seth's opponents after they are injured at his hands. It blows my mind that WWE eliminates the Curb Stomb/Peace of Mind (which to my knowledge never injured anyone), yet allows Seth to still do a Corner Bomb after it injured Sting.
