At first glance, it seems surprising, but if you really think about who subscribes to the Network (by and large, the hardcore audience), it sort of makes sense. The hardcore fan base is likely more invested in NXT right now than they are the main product. It's interesting that this is the first time this has happened, or at least the first time it's been reported. It's also possible that NXT saw an increase because subscribers and their buddies were getting together for UFC and watched NXT beforehand. That's what I did. You can spin this a few different ways - including seeing it as a negative, because it indicates that there is a very specific group of people willing to pay $9.99 a month for the Network, and most of them are probably already signed on. It's further evidence that the plateau the Network hit over the last couple of quarters is likely where it's going to stay, especially domestically. Speaking of subscribe:

To be fair, compare the cards and it's not even close.

Hard to believe retired Mick Foley is the number 4 draw in WWE lol. That'll put butts in seats...

To be fair, compare the cards and it's not even close. Are you saying takeovers card was better than summer slam? Yeah. How was SS supposed to compete with Bayley's last NXT match, Ember Moon and BABBY ROOOOO's debuts, the best tag team match we've seen in many years and the most charismatic and most over member of the WWE family winning the big one? Granted, Cena vs Styles was tremendous, and Balor vs Rollins was exactly what we have all come to expect whenever either man is involved in a high profile match, but two great matches does not beat one fantastic show from start to finish.

Ok, you put up fair points. Summer slam was loaded for me, to long, but very stacked.

Takeover was 100 times better then Summerslam! Summerslam was so disappointing. the Aries/No way Jose match was more entertaining then the universal title match, and the Main event was spectacular, I can watch Joe vs. Nakamura forever. the only summerslam match I liked was the 12 man tag match. Summerslam = F- Takeover = AAA++++++++++

Huge part of the reason why Takeover was great is due to the layout of the card. Everything was perfectly placed and had a purpose. Summerslam was all over the ing place and felt like a huge trainwreck. Lesnar/Orton shouldn't have closed. We all knew Lesnar was going to take another vacation after the match and we all knew he was going to destroy Orton so why was that the main event? That shouldve been in the middle of the card somewhere and Balor/Rollins shouldve main evented. The crowd left the ing building after Cena/AJ and it never really felt the same.

Holy crap. I'm not even sure what to say about that.. It's saying that NXT puts on a better product than the main roster, despite having only one hour of tv time weekly. NXT is booked how a wrestling show should be booked. This, right here.

Both cards were stacked so it is surprising to see TakeOver beat SummerSlam considering the card for SS had ridiculous potential to be one of the greatest.
But it's an easy win for NXT in hindsight. It was a mini repeat of wrestlemania 32. Both cards looked good, but only one ran smoothly.
NXT had the better crowd, matches and flow. Sunmerslam had Cena/styles and the rest was an absolute mess that went on for way too long.
I think it's got to a point where WWE is trying to go too big for the top two ppvs and it's really not working. It ends in dead crowds, rushed matches and pointless segments involving irrelevant people like John Stewart.

Turns out it wasn't really true. The list only measured VOD viewings over a few days, not the live viewings. Lots more people watched SummerSlam live, whereas more people waited to watch NXT.
Here are the figures for this week anyway: As of 8/30, the most-watched shows on the network based on those VOD numbers were: 1. SummerSlam; 2. Holy Foley episode 3; 3. NXT Takeover; 4. Holy Foley episode 2; 5. Holy Foley episode 5; 6. The 8/24 Cruiserweight Classic show; 7. Holy Foley episode 4; 8. NXT (NXT has been consistently behind the Cruiserweight Classic show of late); 9. Holy Foley episode 1; 10. Talking Smack (the episode with The Miz/Bryan confrontation)

I'd rather watch a 2 hour NXT Takeover than a Summerslam, I didn't care about half the matches on either show but somehow NXT made me care about Aires vs No Way Jose more than WWE made me care about New Day vs. The Club. Smackdown's done it with Heath Slater they've made me care about someone and want to see them unlike RAW

This list is no longer correct. This was taken from the most popular section on the www network, which in that case the list is now 1. Summerslam 2.Talking Smack 3. Holey Foley 4.Takeover Brooklyn 5. Holey Foley

Yeah this thread was made a day after summer slam. It didn't give enough time to get up on the VOD views.

When Holy ing Foley (the WWE version of Duck Dynasty) has 4 episodes in the Top 10 it shows how bad WWE Network is lacking in content And apparently I'm late to say the quality of the Takeover matches were better
