AD 13 feels like centuries ago. However I remember specifically being excited about Teddy Long and Sylvain Grenier from that series. I remember being extremely disappointed that Teddy was so tall (although the snazzy outfit made up for it) and also that Sylvain and Rob Conway had RA bodies and TTL arms.
I can recall finding the entire series at the new Super Walmart they had built in my area. I think I was so excited that I just ignored the flaws. Actually I do believe I had seen the protos on this very site! I heard rumors that the series would have TTL arms (except for Teddy and Rey). I have two questions these many years later..
- Why in the world did Luther Reigns, Angle, Sylvain and Conway have TTL arms?
- Why were these not corrected in later assortments? Jakks had fixed the "orangutan arms" on AD Victoria, why not these?
- Are there any existing figures with the correct AD arms?
I can exactly recall the year. I wanna say I was around 12 or 13. I just remember being confused as to why they went back to the old arms just for that series. Why not go back to the complete TTL bodies? Lol. It was just super confusing.

I remember this and I picked up La Resistance and Kurt/Reigns without knowing. Some sucky @ss figures right there.
"Chinese New Year" wasn't that a joke?

Those were the only figures we got of Luther Reigns and Sylvan Grenier. I'm not sure why, but that always bothered me about Jakks. Like, at least throw us another one of those two characters to make up for the fact that these guys can't bend their elbows-- which was an error that shouldn't have happened in the first place.
But, it is part of the reason why when many people meet Jeremy Padadadawadadadawer for the first time they punch him in his Martin Short looking face.

I look back at some of these and cringe haha. Man I had no idea how terrible some of the Jakks figures were. Teddy Long, Joey Styles, Paul Heyman and Paul Bearer were terribly off scale.
Now that I look back, weren't there a few other RA era figures with TTL parts? I remember a Treacherous Trios series Trish with a TTL body and RA head. I can't remember if the other two figures were TTL though. I think she came with Christian and Tyson Tomko.

When they first switched over from TTL to RA there was few figs mixed in that we're in TTL style look at the first few CS waves

God that set was awful. I still picked up La Resistance from Woolworths using a gift card I got at Christmas. They had been warming the shelves for months and I just thought "why the not".

All I remember is Teddy and Rey sold quick. Luther and Angle did too. La Resistance warmed and I finally bought then. I liked Sylvain but I repainted him like his later gimmick

Does anyone else look back and sorta cringe? Lol.
Also, I don't mean to get too off topic, why did Jakks have so many sub series??? I was always confused as a kid. There were PPV sets, Off the Ropes...ect. Plus they rarely put the series on the back of the cards. The only reason I knew Stacey Keibler was in OTR was because of this site lol. It was kinda like "guess who's in this set." Lol. Then they added the RA.2 series n junk. Ah it was just crazy and full of tacky repainted figures. I'm hoping Mattel never becomes that.

La Resistance was one of the biggest shelfwarmers at the time. The attires looked great, but it sucks that the only figure Sylvan Grenier got had to have TTL arms

Holy cow I never thought of that...yeah we need to cut some of them out haha. Especially stuff like TNF and Spotlights. I don't like store specific toys. I don't know if they're considered exclusives or not.
I honestly didn't think of Mattel's PPV series because I never see them lol. I'm holding on to hope that Mattel doesn't get too lazy like Jakks did sometimes.

"Chinese New Year" wasn't that a joke? Not a joke...that was Jeremy's actual excuse when a WFer asked him what the hell happened.

Same reason any successful company has subs, money. (P.S. since it's off topic, I'm pretty sure Mattel has released the same Cena figure a few times.)

I was so disappointed by these. I remember I really wanted the Luther figure but when I saw the arms I didnt buy it. My thinking was, eventually theyll make a better version. Had I known back then that I could have just done a head swap with some other guy I would have picked it up.
