Hi, I’m TJ. I live in New Jersey, right next to NYC. I am a longtime Hasbro collector, and have the entire set loose except for Undertaker #2 and the Hulk Hogan mail-away. I started collecting LJN figures in the past year when I stumbled upon a vintage toy store, and have managed to build a pretty decent collection, including my most prized possession, the Ultimate Warrior. In my research on LJNs, I discovered this forum, where I learned about the Mattel line, which I had no idea even existed, and I am starting to get into that too.
To give you an idea of my collecting interests, here’s a brief account of my history with wrestling. I really got into WWF wrestling in 1992, when I was a kid, and watched the new product until 1996, when I lost interest. During that time, I also got into all of the old WWF stuff starting with 1985, which remains dear to my heart (I could watch Wrestlemania III and Wrestlemania IV on a continuous loop). I have always been a WWF loyalist (I did watch WCW programming to pass the time, but even when I was a kid, I thought it sucked). I got back into (old) wrestling about five years ago when I found my Hasbro and Coliseum Video collections, and have been a WWE Network subscriber since the beginning, where I exclusively watch my “golden era” (I especially love the stuff I had never seen before, like all of the Saturday Night’s Main Event shows). I have tried to watch new programming (meaning anything since 1996), but I can’t get interested. Obviously the LJN figures are a natural fit for me (I can’t believe it took so long for me to discover them), but the Mattel line features tons of people that I have never even heard of. So there aren’t that many Mattel figures that interest me, but they definitely do exist (with this list including at least one modern-day wrestler—I think Bray Wyatt is a pretty awesome character, and I defintely see myself picking up one of his figures in the near future. Maybe Brock Lesnar too).
Here are some pictures of my almost-complete Hasbro collection and my growing LJN collection.
